Haha, definitely. I need to get someone in my car so they can do a drive by and I can hear it from the outside. Don't think I trust the girlfriend though, she worries me enough in her little 1.2 fiesta :grinning:

Haha, I forget that you and a few other members are only a stones throw away Jimmy! Although the weather isn't looking promising at the minute we should definitely try and organise a little drive before it gets too bad!

Yeah just a short hop down the M1  absolutely - I wouldn't mind sorting a get together and a run over to Whitby before 'summer' is over! Keep an eye out.

Funny though isn't it. My best mate with the 700bhp GTR got me to do the same thing so he could hear his like on day 2 of his ownership.

Dropped him off in the middle of my private driveway, and managed to come past him just on the wrong (Right !) side of 150 still going up the box. Hs's nearly 60 years old. If it's in your blood - it's in your blood :smirk:

So. Sorry Matt. Where's this video got to you were going to show us all

Right guys today was the day I collected my car from the body shop, if anyone hasn't followed my thread properly then the reason the car has been at the body shop was because it had the common bubbling paint/rust under the rear window. There is plenty of information on the forum and I am fully aware that Renault UK assess each case individually but i thought I'd put my experience up in a bit more detail so then others might have some luck like me and get theirs done too.

After noticing that the paint under the rear window had started to bubble/rust and I'd seen that a few people were getting them sorted under warranty I thought I'd contact Renault UK and see what they could do. I don't have much chance to call them through the day so while sat at my desk I thought I'd pop on their Live Chat and explain the situation to see what they would say.

I explained what the issue was, explained that as far as I'm aware it should be covered under the corrosion warranty and that I was part of an owners forum where quite a few people had the issue resolved under warranty. I was told that the issue would have to be passed over to a Customer Support Manager who contacted me via email the same day asking for a few details: Registration and Current mileage, Where the vehicle is serviced (only to see if they recently had the car on their system) and My address (to locate my local body shop)

I was then provided with my local Harratts Body Shop address and telephone number, I was told to contact them and arrange a convenient time to go and have the car checked. I spoke to the guy at Harratts and he said he was happy for me to email him a few pictures of the rust and the car and he would then forward these over to Renault UK.

Then after everything going brilliantly everything went quiet, the body shop were waiting for a reply for Renault UK and the person dealing with my claim had gone on annual leave and passed me over to what I can only describe as a baffoon. He rang once and then I tried to return his calls/emails several times but still had no reply. About 2 weeks went by where I didn't know what was happening but then the original Customer Support Manager came back from holiday and picked my case up straight away. Within a day of her getting back and emailing me I received an update from the body shop:

The body shop were asking for scans of my Service History and in the email they put "to be covered by the corrosion warranty you must have had the corrosion checks done every 12 months within the Renault network" SHIT, this was something that I didn't have, the car has full service history but has only ever been at Renault for the first few years of its life. After sort of giving up hope I decided to write a polite email to the guy at the body shop, I attached the service history of the car and explained that I'm sure that the corrosion checks didn't need to be done as I know of a few people on here who have had it done without and asked if he could put my case forward anyway.

The next day I received a call from the body shop asking to pop through for some paint depths checking - Hold on a minute, we might be getting somewhere here! So I went through the same day and got them done, they were all fine as expected. I had a chat with the guy there and he said Renault are really good compared to a lot of other companies they deal with at honoring warranty claims.

The next morning (Friday) I received a call to say that my claim had been accepted and my car was booked in for Monday for the work doing and there would be a courtesy car waiting. He explained that as soon as he sent the depths over they gave him the go ahead, they were just waiting for that last bit of information. Dropped the car off Monday, had the pleasure of driving a Kia Picanto for a couple of days and received a call to say the car was ready to collect this morning!

Apart from the slight break in communication I feel Renault UK have dealt with the whole situation perfectly and I am massively pleased. I had daily calls and updates from the Customer Support Manager while the work was being done. So if anyone has this issue please don't hesitate contacting Renault UK. I didn't have full Renault service history or full Renault corrosion checks and they still honored the warranty!

The body shop have also done a fantastic job and they were great to deal with, if anyone is local to me I used Harratts Body Shop in Wakefield. To top their great work off I've actually just noticed that they have replaced the bung that goes in the rear wiper to cover the bolt which had gone missing many months ago - I nearly ordered a new wiper last week, well chuffed haha.

If anyone actually read through all of that they deserve a medal but I just thought I'd give some insight of my experience so that hopefully more people can get theirs sorted too!

Here's a picture of the beautiful red thing! :grinning:

Can't beat fresh paintwork. Far 'better' than polishing like an idiot for hours. Smidgeon more expensive mind !!!

Seriously.....Nice review Matt - and really glad you got sorted. Fairly painlessly by the sounds of it all in all, with a good job by Renault and a better job and service from the bodyshop !

Today was a good day. If NOTHING else you handed back the keys to a Kia Picanto. Thats something to celebrate i imagine

Thanks Shuv! Very painlessly really, apart from taking the car to the body shop I haven't really had to leave my desk at work - Not that I got much actual work done mind :grinning:

Hey, I'd started to like the Kia Picanto so much I called in to the dealer on the way home to see about putting the R27 in part ex....... Jokes :grinning: It did have a nice steering wheel though!

glad all worked out well and you can enjoy a rust free beauty again..:french:

Thanks Pav! Time to spend some more money on the car now which is becoming more of a regular occurrence :grinning:

Excellent result Matt and a really good write up. As above, great to hear some positive talk about Renault and their customer service, and very encouraging for anyone else who may have to go through this process in the future! Nice to know that they are willing to help out.
