Manifold removal on 197 - how hard?

It took me 4-5 hours, that's with the car on axle stands and on my driveway.
I dropped the top mount bolts so the whole hubs dropped leaving the shafts in place. This allowed me to drop the subframe enough.
To be honest, 300 all in is a good price especially if you'd be under a car in the cold for 5 hours.

I have done the job on a lift by myself that time is about right I done the job on a lift disconnected the steering column the sub frame is heavy I disconnected the steering links to the hubs, the lower arms from the hubs and took the sub frame off with the steering rack and anti roll bar attached good time to change the ARB bushes. Don't mess with the heat shield over the starter motor it can short out the fuse for the starter, Make sure the steering wheel does not move or the rack while they are disconnected. The difficulty is not crazy hard with a reasonable set of tools impact gun useful for the ball joints. After doing it once with proper prep it could be done in two hours and with it closer to the ground you could manoeuvre the sub frame with your knees and arms to get the bolts back in and started. So many other jobs can be done at the same time due to ease of access like inner and outer track rod ends would be a gift.

Thanks for all the replies, I think under the circumstances I'll pay to have it done, I'm getting too old for lying under cars for 5 hours at this time of year .I'll look at replacing the suggested parts at the same time.

My garage charged me £200 for the removal of old and fitting of new manifold.

This was 2+ years ago now though. Not a job I’d want to do on the driveway at home either. Ramps and all the tools: or let the Pro’s do it.....

Good luck.
