No, of course not mate. Don't get me wrong, I know that there must be dealers out there doing a fantastic job on Sport models etc but me after hearing/reading stories about them and also experiencing ''some'' I simply don't trust them. The majority of them know jack. I suppose I'm not willing to take the risk, even though my car is still on warranty.

Anyhow, there are so many specialists out there doing an excellent job, why someone bother with the dealers anyway?

I know one or two who have said the same about some of the very well respected independent ones.

I can tell you the main dealer I use has given me a good number of FREE hours labour and diagnosis.

It's the only bodyshop I trust in fact I pick the meg back up today and I fully expect it will be spot on.

They are also fitting two fronts for £390 which is far cheaper than even black circle.

They did a 36k service inc plugs and 2 CS5s for £425 the other day too.

Some as you point out though would struggle to change the trip computer.

You just need to find the right one.

Sounds like you've got a good 'un MentalPen, problem is a lot of them aren't like that, the only way to really tell is if someone has experience with a particular dealer or just use them and hope, but the exact same thing goes for independents.

christ!!! the pump is £68.84, but it's 5 bolts, and about a tenners worth of coolant.

I'm £495 all in inc the water pump and both FULL belt kits (I bet they didn't change your aux tensioner for that price)

And that's why ill be seeing you in the new year

Because they are franchises, so they can essentially charge what they like.
