Its been 1 week & 800 miles...

Im not one for lengthy bull s*** waffle and handling reviews etc have been done to death on this car by far more qualified people than i so i though id just let any future buyers know what i thought of my option choices and the FF 200 after a week.

Well car exceeded all expectations on build quality and and general road presence. The car does not pull unwanted attention yet young and old alike i often catch admiring it which is testiment to renault. I havent had any knobs try to race me yet which is good as thats the attention i dont want.

I opted for the stereo upgrade bluetooth option which is great, USB lead and aux lead, I use the USB with my Iphone 4 and the bluetooth hands free, Its remarkably easy to use with the steering colum controls and the ipod interface is one of the best ive come accross all be it a little sluggish at times. I have turned loudness on put the bass on max and treble on +3 and i have to say the stereo is great and others have comented on its performance, I listen to alot of D&B and trance and for a system without a woofer its very good for the money.

Recaro's - No need to say much the look the nuts they are the nuts, If you have a gammy hip, are obese i wouldnt recomend though, Im just shy of 6ft1 and i find they are a little high but not uncomfortably so, They do howerver flex and if like me you rest your head back onto the head rest its like chopping your head off and popping iot in the tumble drier!..bounce bounce bounce, but the mrs recons i have a big head so this may also be the cause. :tongueout:

Cup chassis - No where near to hard for the road so dont be shy lol! infact its spot on, corners gracefull and feels planted and confidence inspiring. Perfectly set up by renault and much better than the v3's i had on my mk4 golf but thats a different car so not really a fair comparison.

Few niggles ive found, Inside door handle is too close to the hinge, what peanut thought this was a good idea? simple physics which renaultsport seem to know so much about, maybe renault should let the sport guys do the doors next time! My boot is dying already and unless lifted 3/4 of the way up wont self raise but thats no biggy for me. Also my screen in the centre of my dash seems to need to warm up every day? otherwise is laggy and kind of pixelated until warm.

Postives, Cruise and speed limiter are great especially the later, really useful gadget when pootling around unfamiliar territory with the speed nazi's about. Also although the standard bulbs arnt all that great the headlights are good again better than the xenons from my mk4, Sounds good for a 4 banger but its no v6 however it doesnt take much to block out the motorway drone with some tunage, The Keyless system rocks my world im always loosing my car keys but now i just keep the card somewhere safe and forget about it. Also handy when carrying your porn stash to the car whith only one hand free.

On a more serious note i have found that i cannot fit my large coke from mc'donalds under the dash in the cup holders, good job the mrs has a regular and i can use the one in the back

I have been running mine in the mans way no nancy pants for me shift light ftw, I am currently getting 30 mpg without trying for good mpg, and i have found the car responds better on vpower for certain.

Really glad i chose the FF over the cup as the extra's and soft touch dash are great.

In short, its the most fun car ive ever owned.

Glad you are enjoying it mate, couldn't agree more about the door handles! Silly French! The ones on the 197 cup are better, not sure if you have seen them? My center screen is a bit slow when it's cold. Just put it down to the way they work. As you say, no biggy as it's fine after it warms up.

Good feedback..You dont have to plug the iphone in to the USB to play music, do you know that Pete?

I have done 1500 miles in mine in 5 weeks and I must admit I find the cup suspension a bit harsh.. my poor lil old bones are aching LOL

This. I only plug it in when it needs charging. No need to even take your phone out of your pocket because it automatically plays when you get in and stops when you get out. I love my gadge lol

The cup suspension is firm but ive gotten used to coilovers over the years i guess.

good review mate, i've now done 1,400 miles and have very much the same feelings as you. Although I can't wait to get it on track.

:hug1: im not an album flicker tbh but if you do work it out I would like to know.

Ace.

Mine still felt tight as hell at that age, even with a day at Snetters under its belt - you have more fun to come, mine's coming alive now! Man-running-in FTW!

the centre console is really slow due the VERY cold weather mate, mine started doing it this week, when the weather warms up it wont do it.

Ice?? Flat everywhere, there may be a vid of me doing some skidz somewhere, 100 yard dab of oppo style! I should be too old for this by rights, but I was goaded into it!

No noise from the Pagids of win. Go RS29 compound though if you buy them, I pushed a little past the RS5s limit and got some pad deposit.. but then I brake like a loon. Needs the higher rated ones, or chance the CL RC5+. The RC6s never used to squeal on my Alcons, but they're allegedly bad on these.

Best review ever....

If you get a chance, can you work the mpg out on paper? i.e. L in vs miles covered

Roll on March :'(

Also.. with 800 miles under it's belt, the Brembo pads(?) might still be bedding in. I drove a Elise once with Brembo pads and they were like blocks of wood!

FLAT OUT OR GO HOME.

I have only ever had mine flat out and it drives great the engine just picks up and goes.

Good write up Pete
As said the door handles were a pain on the 197 and not improved for the 200 although the cup has a much better positioned handle.
I see you are in Rugby, will keep a eye out for you although hardly used mine in this weather, its easier to use the work's van!

Oh and i have the cup spoiler should you need to see one
