Ipod lead not working?

I have a ipod lead in my glove box connected to the standard stereo. But when i plug my ipod in, no sound comes out? It says on the ipod screen that it is connected (and 'ok to disconnect' and what not)

Now i've done what the book i had with car has said and put AUX in the source list but still no sound is coming though :/

The stereo needs to be the 'Update List' type (will say it on the headunit). I would check the connection into the headunit first off, but I had a similar problem and the wire had broken after being caught. Bought another and it has been fine. I know it is simple but when the headunit displays Aug you might need to turn up the volume as this is separate the the CD and radio...

You can get an ipod working with the standard HU?!?!?! Why am I only just finding this out now???

apprently dude lol the lead was in my car when i bought it like

debating weather to put my Alpine HU in though, the screen doesnt work though doesnt it??
