Immobiliser issue, car won’t start..

I’d be checking engine/chassis earths etc, had a clutch or any work done/parts fitted of late? What you think @turkie172

Sounds a bit bad earthish to me... how it went downhill and won’t even turn over? Or maybe even starter...

Are you in Sheffield @stevswfc9 as your name suggests? I’m only at j28 M1 if you need a hand? And been auto electrical for 20yrs give or take in one way or another...

Yes mate I’m in micklebring, we’re going to check the starter motor the wiring etc tomorrow night, I’ve not got a lot of knowledge of clios tbh. It’s had an air filter and HIDs fitted and side lights etc. But that’s all that’s been done since I’ve had it but that was weeks ago. I’ve ran it with them on it for 3 weeks with no issues

Your only 35 mins away according to google maps, I am busy weds night but can come up tomorrow if you need a hand (I’ve offered a few times on here, but they’ve been miles away!)

Well tomorrow we’re guna jack it up and check the start motor over make sure it’s getting power, and then try and bump it to see if it gets going. Tried to rock it in 1 gear, and start it but nothing. My father in law is coming up tomorrow to help so if the starter motor comes up no issues. I’ll be great full for you assistance later on in the week if it will be available

I am fishing Thursday and camping Friday-Sunday, so it might be Monday next week?

Hi Steve just went out to the car and checked the Immobiliser light should be blinking 4 times a second on entry to the car and ready to start then stays solid during the cranking phase and goes out when the engine starts so unlikely the Immobiliser is the problem. You don't have the message on the dash while trying to start saying steering unlocked so doubtful that the starter fuse has blown and you can hear the starter solenoid engage but I think Antti O had the fuse problem but he heard the relays switching but you could have a look and a read through his problem like me we had worked on the manifold and the start motor heat shield touched the starter motor positive and blew the starter fuse.

If it was just the starter motor you could bump start it that would be a check easy done with enough space and push power available. Dumdum did a great job on the cruse control retro fit I was quite amazed so he would be more than capable to find the fault.

An easy check if you get no power at the starter terminal is the positive battery terminal the picture I can find has a blown link so don't think you have to have the same just showing you were to check.

The big terminal should have constant 12Volts the smaller top right terminal is the switching signal to engage the starter.

Anyway need any wiring diagrams give me a shout good luck.

Out of interest on your diagrams is the starter fuse between relay and starter? If so can you put power down the starter side of the fuse to manually energise the starter?

Just incase I will nip up in my cup just so we can check voltages etc even though mine isn’t a keycard effort, some stuff should crossover
