Help with connecting driver and passenger seat airbag resistors for airbag light removal

Hi all,

I am in a process of installing OMP TRS-E bucket seats in my Clio 200 for track days and other racing events and I am looking for help with connecting resistors in order to remove airbag light from dashboard.

I found info that I have to use 3.3Ω resistors, however, I don't have permission (I don't know why) to open most of the threads concerning the mentioned topic and I am unable to find necessary information by myself.

On which wires should I connect my resistor? This is the driver's side:

I can provide pictures for the passenger side, if necessary.

Thanks and kind regards!

Patrik

You will find there is more than that to do each standard seat has 2 air bags side and seat base the drivers seat has a switch on the seat rail which detects if the seat is unlocked and moved forward to let someone into the back seat and I don't think that's 3.3 Ohms. The website costs money to run and since you don't see adds all over the place members pay to have full access to the "how to" section and others, so some areas are restricted to paid members for the purpose of getting people to join. It might be easier to get the airbags disarmed from the computer which a Renault dealer will not do for legal reasons but independent specialists or garages might do. Membership starts at £5 and there are other one off payment options so it's up to you

Not sure if helps, but airbag wires are usually twised pairs. (2 wires twisted together). Pull back the covering or harness tape and take a look at the wires feeding the seat inline connector. The ORC unit sits in front of the handbrake, you could always trace the wires back behind the seats and under the carpet towards the handbrake.
My car had buckets fitted when I bought it, and no resistors on the seat connectors, so I think the standard practice is to get the seats turned off via software, and then other airbags/belt pretensions can be done with resistors.

Thank you very much for investing your time for the help, but I already figured everything out by myself. Turns out it is a max 30 minute job, if you are handy with a soldering iron and if you want to have pluggable solution with resistors on connectors, like I have - 3 resistors on drivers side and 2 on passengers side. I would like to point out that it isn't as complicated as it was presented in first reply, which wasn't helpful at all...

Cheers!

Maybe you shouldn’t be so ungrateful when someone is trying to help you. If you re-read the first reply he suggested that it isn’t as simple as a single resistor per seat as each one has 2 airbags and the drivers side has a seat position switch. It was also mentioned that having them coded out might be easier for you. Both points being made to try and help you.

I would have given you the wires and the ohm range if you replied or if you were a member it would have taken 4 minutes to turn them off and if it is motorsport your using it for then there is other stuff to disable that the Clio cup guys do with traction etc. that resistors will not do but feel free to ask more questions thanks guys for sticking up for me.

Sorry to hijack but is it possible to disable traction?

The way it was explained to me was that the button does not completely disable traction by a guy who's brother raced, something to do with hitting the curbs cornering can still affect power.

Hello and sorry to bring this up again but do you have info/pictures on how you connected the resistors? I have a blown recaro side airbag and can get access to the actual plug that goes into the airbag it’s self on the side of the seat. Will connecting the resistor here be the same as connecting under the seat?

I plan to fix in the end but just need to diagnose while I try to get the car started.

As long as you’re bridging the 2 wires on the car side of the loom them that will work too.
