Good dealer experience: Harratts Wakefield/Pontefract

Jimmy

Good cop
Bit of a long story this, but make a brew and bear with me

At the end of last year I took my R27 to Harratts to have new front discs and pads fitted, and to have all four calipers stripped, lubed etc. Spot on service and was dealt with very well by Adam Vickers - who it was recommended I speak to by some members on here.

Fast forward to yesterday and my 4 new Goodyear Eagle F1 AS2 had arrived and were ready for fitting :wiz: took the car to a local tyre fitting place owned by a friend of my brother. They removed three wheels and put on the new rubber, however on the last wheel they could not remove the locking wheel nut :tongueout:anic: No matter what they tried, the nut was stuck fast. As they didn't want to risk breaking it, they suggested I take it back to Harratts, as they were the last ones to have the wheels off - and therefore were likely the ones who had over-tightened the nut.

I was initially dubious as to whether Harratts would help out, as it was essentially my word against theirs that it was their fault. However I spoke to Adam again and he asked me to bring the car to them.

2 hours later, the technician (Richard) had tried allsorts but had finally managed to chisel off the offending nut and had even put the last tyre on for me. They accepted that it was their fault and charged me nothing for the work they had done.

So basically, Adam and the team at Harratts are absolutely spot on and dealt with the issue really well. I honestly couldn't have asked for any more and they made me feel like a valued customer - even though I had only actually been to them once before! Highly recommended if they are local to you.

Thanks for reading.

As you say it's their word against hours but reputation is important, not that all garages understand this though. They did well to get it off without damaging the wheel

Small amount of damage to the wheel unfortunately, however the technician explained that this might be the case before he did anything. And to be fair, the wheel is in dire need of a refurb anyway, so it's not the end of the world.

glad to hear!

harrats ponte is also on the ball for us Yorkshire rs owners

Yeah when I first booked in for the discs fitting and spoke to Adam, I mentioned the forum and he said he would look after me. He's more than done that... Top bloke.

Adam did say that they only use torque wrenches and not air guns to tighten up the nuts, so I'm not sure whats happened with the locker in this case. Could have been a problem with the nut in the first place...

Another great experience with Harratts, this time the Pontefract branch (Adam Vickers now works from here so I went there instead of Wakefield).

Booked my car in for Full Service, MOT, brake strip/clean, air con recharge and gearbox oil change. Excellent customer service, everyone there is really helpful (Adam and Mark), the work was done quickly and they really looked after me.

If you are in West/South Yorkshire and want a main dealer to look after your car then I really can't recommend these guys enough. They are very aware of the RS forums and they go to great lengths to look after you if you say you are on the forum.

I had to pay another visit to Harratts Pontefract yesterday to investigate a suspected knock from the n/s front (nothing wrong thankfully).

Once again the service I got from Adam Vickers and the technician (Neil, I think) was spot on. It genuinely seems like nothing is too much trouble for them and they are always happy to help. Bearing in mind I've only ever gone there for service items and haven't bought a car from them before, they treat me very well.

I know that RUK dealers tend to get a lot of flack, however this one must be an exception. Highly recommended if you are in Yorkshire or the nearby areas.

Just come across this thread while browsing and would like to add that you still get great service from Harratts Pontefract i have had belts done there and front shockers done there and had great service
but one small problem which was dealt with very well
i had shockers changed on front and when i got it back there was some small circular scratch's on the top of the wing i called Adam who was very helpful with this matter i explained that i work in a bodyshop and would try and get them polished out the next day,He agreed to this so i got a painter to have a go, the marks was polished out so i called Adam and told him all was well, i needed gearbox oil changing so he offered to do it with the zero labour rate i just had to pay for the oil so booked it in, when i collected my car there was no charge at all,Thats what i call customer service he didn't have to do this but i will always go to them for a price of a job before anyone else local to me.Gearbox rebuild next and also just found out my strg rack is on the way out,So will get a price from them first. So to the staff of Harratts Pontefract thank you for the good service.:thumb:

Adam is very good indeed and does treat like you a very valued customer.

Since I've replied in this thread I did have an issue with some of the work that was done at the time of the service and MOT, however this was no reflection on Adam's efforts.
