Gearbox Issues - how do I know if it’s Synchros?

Posted on my build thread but wanted to ask the question properly here to get peoples thoughts.

So on track Friday, started having issues selecting 4th and 2nd with the car seemingly not engaging the gear when changing up in the case of fourth and down I the case of second. Sometimes it was simple in that the clutch could be depressed again and the gear would engage and all would be fine. Sometimes it was case of selecting the gear.

It’s also worth noting that I can pull the shifter past the normal point of where it sits when in gear.

No crunching has been heard or felt.

Have you checked the top of the gearbox as when you select 2/4 you could be popping them off slightly.

Just had a quick look abs everything seems to be in place.

The shifter feels heavy to move so it could be shifter cables maybe?

As they’re looking slightly second hand. 29B51689-CA8B-4032-99C8-4AEF1B727D94.jpeg

Cheers, that seems relatively straightforward to do…. Do you reckon it’s possible using a pit rather than a lift?

I always wanted one on mine, but I know a lot of people cry about the vibrations/noise.

I’ve got a coolerworx one in the megane, and whilst it looks cool, it’s a bit of a pain in the arse. So easy to mis-shift! Fortunately for me, I’ve only mis-shifted into higher gear.

Cheers. The vibration / noise thing doesn’t really bother me as the car has black series engine mounts and I’ve got over myself with the vibration they produce.

The thing that really appeals is that it replaces the linkages as well I believe and do away with cables.

Be interesting to see what feedback @s88thy has
