Forged f4r

Was that the white 197 mate? Could it have been Ben_R1 on here?

Yes that was me but bottom end wasn't standard. I had forged Wossner high comp pistons with deeper valve pockets to accomodate higher lift cams with cup racer big end and crankshaft bearings. Con rods were standard bar the ARP bolts and reliable up to 8.5k rpm.

You'll be able to raise it to 8k, dont think you'll get any higher safely tho. Be interesting to see how is turns out, who are you getting to map it? I think you'll get 220 on honest rollers, Ben_r1 got to 230 with pretty much the same setup as you and ITB's. Dont think youll need solid lifters for that rev limit. Ive got hydraulic lifters, cat cam valves and double valve springs and mine revs to 8k with a S/charger on it. Engine dynamics advised against it to me as it would 'eat it self' was the words they said to me lol!

Either way it will scream and go much better, looking forward to it finished mate

this is going on ITB's and Omex 600 aswell.
being mapped by a very good friend of mine who is an Omex distributer/mapper/tuner, I shall see why it makes on his dyno dynamics rollers once finished.
im sure it's pretty accurate as my FRS came out pretty accurate on his rollers aswell as at another ford tuners as pretty much the same a couple of weeks apart.
and another's friends company (Airtec) use his rollers and mapping for all of there demo cars, so he has a good reputation for what he does aswell.

I'm midway through doing my spare engine at present (I say midway, everything has been ordered but waiting on it all to arrive)

High compression forged pistons with some wild valve cutouts.
forged H section rods.
crank staying standard.
billet flywheel
wild head work.
supertech valves.
catcam 422 camshafts
catcam valve springs
looking at solid lifters as we speak, and the option of loosing the VVT dephaser setup.

its the ARP bolts that seem the scariest in price for such small items, such as the flywheel bolts, rod bolts, Headbolts etc.

im only hoping to break 230bhp, but time will tell.
it would be nice if we could raise the rev limit a little higher aswell, to which I would see no reason for the engine to now be strong enough to handle that.

Is this going to be a daily drive?

This is going to be nearly undriveable in city traffic...

I wouldn't fancy trying to do that.
i remember trying to drive a 608bhp escort cossie on Sequential gearing in traffic queing into Silverstone a couple of years back, I was close to swearing at the frickin' thing.

Jeeze, you must have deep pockets

This is going to be lovely on track

I certainly hope so chap.
Just invested a fair bit into the suspension aswell, lower arms and rear beam have just been strengthened and braced aswell as all mounting points rose jointed aswell.
aswell as replica front hubs off the cup race cars to remove bump steer, hubs have been widened 5mm, elevated from the lower arms for the bump steer correction and rose jointed into place, and steering arm pickup points rose jointed aswell on a manual steering rack with all PAS setup removed.
still waiting on the AST's tho... Seems forever :worried:

That sounds brilliant Kelv! How long have you been waiting for the ASTs then?

A question about the the hubs of the cup racers, I was under the impression that these were the same as the road cars? I must be mistaken then. I bet you are planning to go seriously low for going to that extend when it comes to geometry. Properly done mate well done. Make sure you make a progress thread:smile: I might have to pop over some day and have a nose:smile:)

i have, but the problem I have is my arms are far to short and I normally only find polo's and chocolate buttons when I reach the bottom.

Initial order went in in November Yianni, but apparently they are due soon!!

i should have said, that although this is still F4R, it is on the 182 Trophy.
