Fitting of 215/40/R17s?

How will this size fit our wheels? How will it affect performace/drivability?

According to calculations from internet i'll have a 3% lower circumference and speedo will be out 1mph at 50pmph.

Anyone else fitted this size tyre? Really want a cheap set of Yoko Spec2s to burn up on track but not avaliable in 215/45s :worried:

Was perfectly fine on my 197. However I would not recommend Parada for track use as they were awful.

As said its only the differance between a new tyre and a worn tyre.
Have you thought of 225/40 (which is near as same as 215/45 circumference wise)
Having you speedo out by 1mph is not an issue as they are out to start with.
Mine shows 70mph on GPS while speedo shows 68mph.

Alot of people complain of scrubbing on 225s so I'm going to steer clear, especially as they're more expensive.

Don't get 225 ben!! Fine if you standard height, but found it's not as precise and as 215's. 40's should feel more sharp. But I have to ask...your running 888's, the perfect track tyre lol?!?!

My R888s are my road tyres lol, I'm not melting £700 worth of tyres to be a second quicker round track :tongueout:

It's all about the cheap ones you don't mind destroying. I'm thinking either spec2s which I haven't used before, or t1rs which I find excellent on the misses 182.

Bit pointless spending 700 if there not being used to their potential lol?? I'd have the cheaper ones for the road!

Definately 888's for track. You just need to drive smoothly to make sure the tyres don't melt.

I expect a tyre that gives good feel at the limit and not to disintergrate so quickly. For example I'm currently on 3 trackdays and my CS3 still have 5.5mm tread and it's reaching 13k miles. I also prefer some understeer on corner entry which should be hard on the tyres.

^^^^how the fleck have u managed that?? 13k on one set and 3 trackdays with 5.5 lef????

Use R888s for drag days, they are invaluable for launching fwd. Easily worth a second, i'd rather wear em down on 20 drag days than 2 track days.

Looking at the Federal RS-R then, sposed to be as good as R888s but dont demand the premium.
