Evo 8 MR or keep turbo clio??

Not sure, with this one?? Looking at my options and would be looking at selling/part ex the clio as it stands against a evo 8 mr.

The downside would be, i've spent a load of cash on the clio and the evo would be 2005, so not sure..

I know the capabilities of that evo are pretty insane, but would I be buying a dog?

In terms of time frame, i'm not thinking about selling yet would be August/September

-Would be grateful of any help/advice/ or previous experience, (would be looking for circa £11k for the clio and evo would be around £12k)

Loved the test drive i looked at an Evo 10 amazing car to drive power was unreal what put me off was the cost to run the thing..

2x server per year
cost of Tax
insurance
fuel

then there was the other issue i looked at the FQ-300 and on the test drive i stalled it 3 times (looked like a rite mofo) but apparently you need to drive them all the time like there stolen ??

I needed a daily driver as well as a rocket car hence why i bought the Meg its not as quick but its not going to kill me on costs.
I'm not sure how the 8 is but GOD that car when i put my foot down made me smile from ear to ear.

if you can afford it then get one you wont be disappointed..

Sorry if i have babbled on lol:thumbsup:

Amazing cars IMO. All depends on your budget though I think Badbuz summed it all up pretty well though to be honest. You can make them look immense though and the power is great. Had a friend who had a 7 and it used to lunch clutches, he was forever putting in new ones which cost him badly.

this is something that i have seriously been thinking about as the prices of them have come down now! maybe when the car is paid off in nov, i might get one.

Part from that the running costs are on the high side

Would there be a part ex market for the Clio as it stands ?

It's a great car now but with it being a different engine to the orginal car i assume it would have to be a specialist dealer ?

either way both cool cars. . .

Emma wants us to have an Evo X FQ 360 next year

She actually has a 'lady moment' everytime she sees one

Gonna look into them me thinks

I take it that it must be a very low mile, immaculate 8MR if not that is a bit on the dear side, you should be looking at good 9's for that price.
I sold my 9 FQ360 last March/April with 32k, 400/400 and a few carbon bits for 14 and it was in really good condition inside and out.
Evo's are not too expensive to run unless you are really racking up miles or tracking. You need to service every 4500 miles or yearly but keeping away from Mitsu dealers and its not unreasonable, I had mine for about 2 years from 17k-32k miles and changed the tyres all round once, the front pads and that was it.
As for having to drive them like you stole them :blush:hmy: they are a comfortable drive until you boot them up, this is part of the appeal so if they feel wrong they will be.

Id go for the Evo mate. The way those things pull away from the apex of a corner is insane but theyre a lot like the Clio with their confidence inspiring nature.

You going to try selling the Clio or just go for a part exchange straight away ?

Depends on how you see your clio. For me most cars I've owned are projects. Always until recent times had a separate family car. As good as the project is, once I've exhausted what I wanted to do, I move on to something else. My itch is a RS4 avant. Keep coming back to them. Think you'll move on soon anyway once you've identified a new challenge.

Sounds like you need to find a project that will keep you more involved rather than just buying a Clio then doing the conversion just for the sake of it

Find something that hasn't been done to work with it may keep you more interested as a longer term project

I have had a couple Impreza's over the years (nigh on the same thing as an evo). And have seemed to have a pattern of..

182 > Impreza Spec-C > 172 > 01 JDM STi > 200.

And whilst I enjoyed owning both of my Impreza's, I can hand on heart say I dont miss them. Yes they were quick, but they cost a bomb to run, and personally I spent a fortune on tuning them (Volk RE30 wheels.... £500... each!, had most of the Cusco tuning catalogue fitted to the car too).

I am glad I did own them, and maybe will dip my toe again, but my clio does 9/10's of what they did, for around half the cost.

It might not cost you as much if you dont do track stuff, but I remember my first trip to the Ring in my Spec-C. 3 and a quarter laps to a tank of fuel. Spent around £800 on fuel in my first 2 months ownership!

But anyways, I am waffling on here..... it would be a shame to see your car go, but if your bored of it, or want a new toy, then give it a go. Worst case senario you can enjoy for the summer and shift it.

And one of the reasons so you can buy so much evo and impreza these days is because of the runnign costs. People cant afford them, so its a buyers market!!

FQ-360 would be epic to own, already comes with HKS exhaust, brembo brakes and Bilstein suspension. Would love to own one, and there isnt really a bad colour on them either.

Although finding one that hasnt been abused may be impossible given the nature of the car.

"Mitsubishi Evo VIII FQ-360 - low miles, 1 lady owner, only used to go to the shops on a sunday" I think not.

Correct me if Im wrong, but arent all the 360s imports? Sure 340 was the highest the UK got?

One of the above comments really sum it up in a nutshell it really does depend what you want the evo for i personaly think you may get bored of the standard power of the evo and i garantee you will want more and they are not cheap to modify your best bet is to join the mlr its an excellent forum and 90 per cent of he memberson there are very helpfull have you considered a evo 6 youll find a lot rate them as the best of the evolutions i had a 6tme runnIng 400/400 autronics aP,s rs diff that car was a hoot to drive but became very expensive to run youll literaly watch the needle drop as you drive them shell will become your best friend lol then i had the holy grail i brought a 9mr rs now that ca was a weapon at 400/400 wish id never sold that one as there were only 3 white ones in the country if you can stick with standard or you are prepared to throw thousands at it then go with the evo i know ill be having another next year like i said get yourself on the mlr youll learn a hell of a lot but stay off parts for sale lol
