Engines 197/200

Hi all,

My engine unfortunately went bang at cadwell park last weekend. Less than ideal but that’s racing

Anyway I have a spare motor and just wanted to check are the 197/200’s different and if so how? I have checked the cylinder head numbers are they are the same so what makes the difference.

They’re slightly different. 197 is 830 engine code, 200 is 832.
The 200 has tweaked cam geometry, but essentially there’s no real change.

The difference in gearbox between the 197 and 200 is more noticeable.

ok thanks, is there anything I can swap from my old 200 engine(if it’s still useable) to make the 197 a 200 motor? Assume cams and cylinder head?

There'll also be a few sensors you'll need to swap over. I put a 200 engine into my 197 and I had to move several sensors across as the plugs were different. Can't tell you which ones for certain but there are a few.
