Drilling back of wheels.?

Been looking at fitting some stud addapters to the focus.
Problem is the old studs poke through the addapters by 3mm rear and 5mm front.
The wheels the instead of locking up to the face of the lock upto the end of the old bolts. Obviously this is not good but could be rectified if I was to remove some material from the back of the wheels from between the spokes.
There is enough material to do this.
But what I'm wondering is am I risking cracking/splitting the alloy.?

i was going to say remove the studs.....or change them for shorter ones

i wouldnt fancy taking metal off the back of the wheel hub it could cause the wheel hub to crack and fail

Wouldn't know where to start getting the studs off the car.
Would be a pain in the ass trying to cut the studs down while still on the car.

most wheel studs are just pushed in the hubs so its a hammer knock out jobbie

Not really grinder with cutting disk then gently buff the cut edge to make it neat so the nut goes on easy.

run a nut down first.....that way you can square the end of the stud eaiser and the nut helps to "cut" the end thread as it comes off the stud
