De-catted Manifold: The results

I think its great what you've done mate, it always takes abit of bravery to test these setups out for the rest of us, and it sounds amazing too.
Performance gains seem interesting too. 2bh i've had enough of hearing about Woody's bigger valves and high idle thinking he is god and definer of the mk3.... lol.
I'm sure you're going down the right route for your tuning plan and it looks to be coming together nicely.

Quick question...
I'm in two minds about doing this to mine. Although, I'd be keeping the OEM Cat. By keeping the OEM Cat but removing this Pre-Cat bit, is this likely to cause any nasty little warnings to pop up on the dash or kill the emissions for MOT time?

Rs tuning in leeds recon they will see good gains taking out both cats and mapping to suit! They were after a donor car a while ago

Removed both cats, had been mapped by a "tuner" up north. Still had a flatspot (100-200rpm of bouncyness).
The best map came from k-tec which i was very impressed with.
Sold the car because i had an offer i couldnt refuse!
Personally i would decat the whole system, and put a sports cat in. However gains would be marginal at the level of tuning most people seem to be doing.
But its worth it for the noise!!!!!!
Cup Racer still has the cat in the manifold, but the rest is de-catted.

Great write up mate and nice to see different mods being tested.
This is being completed on my own 197 with inspiration from yourself, should be finished in a month. When a car runs nitrous it is much like a turbo car where back pressure is a restriction and total freeflow is bhp, so hopefully I can squeeze a few more horses out that shiny bottle

Had my Y-pipe made yesterday:

Unfortunately, I don't know about the gains just from this mod because I'm rebuilding the engine from scratch (catcams 5504402, matched inlets, ported & polished head, Clio V6/R3 airbox, lightweight flywheel, Miltek full system with decat, remap,...).
At the end of the pipe, I made an opening for the wide band probe.
Oh, and the price - 25€.
P.S. I know, it looks awful - but it's - function over fashion.
