De-catted Manifold: The results

Putting the flirting to one side.....lol.
I've just been to RS today, with a Decat Manifold (toyo/rip off) with a Akro Evo, KTEC induction. Had the famous flat spot and the AFR all over the place at the bottom end. Base run 190bhp, 25 mins later 194.5 bhp and fecking 1000% better mid range. Paul (RS) said that was the best he's seen a car with a toyo fitted.
IMO...do the remap!
However RS don't rate the Toyo manifold, they said stick with the original and either cut out the decat or cut it off and do the Y pipe conversion.

Was told to put mine on a rolling road to test power? Getting mixed opinion on a remap since had a cat back fitted, only a like for like. Doing my head in now

Rolling road will just tell you how your car is running, power outputs. After the results then you can make the decsion if it needs a remap.

What have you had replaced, the manifold or system? And it was replaced with a new standard item yep? i.e original Renault and not some 3rd party exhaust place crap?

If you have original equipment Renault items, you wont need a remap, it'll be as it left the factory (assuming fitted correctly). So if it feels slower, the difference we are talking is essentially going to be impossible to judge from the seat of the pants. So perhaps it is just that you went from a blowing exhaust, so noisey, to now quiet as now it's not blowing.

If you fitted a 3rd party "OE" item, then chances are it is **** quality so maybe you have lost some power.

Regardless of all that, an RR power run at RS Tuning will be around £50, give you peace of mind to know how it's running etc. A standard 197 on their rollers will make about 185bhp.

Well it was done at a Renault specialist ie breakers . I saw the part too, so 2nd hand. I'm worried now it was s h i t!! Manager off til Thurs who I dealt with so im ringing back then. That part would have set me back £580 from Renault new.
