Day Trip To Wales

Went to Bala yesterday. Down the A49 to Whitchurch, then A495 to Oswestry. A495 surprised me in that it's not a bad road tbh in parts. Thought I'd have to get further across to Wales for the fun to start.

From Oswestry I cut west down the B4396 to Pen-y-bont-fawr, and then dropped on to the B4391 towards Bala.

B4396 was a great stretch. The B4391 even better until I stopped to take some pics (see below). Just about to leave and couldn't find my phone anywhere, so spent 20 minutes looking in the heathland for it to no avail, with sheep wondering wtf I was up to.

So got really peed off with myself, thinking I'd lost my now 6yr old phone, and didn't enjoy the drive back up the A494/A5104 to Chester. Spent the whole time worrying about telling work (co. mobile) but more importantly not being able to get back some of the contacts I had.

Found phone in the flat when I got back. What a nobhead.

Ive driven those roads quite a few times, used to live in Oswestry for a while. The horse shoe pass is a good one to.

Looks like a nice drive anyhow! Ive not been out for "Just a drive" in ages

I don't often just "go for a drive" either these days. Can probably count the number of times I have on one hand since buying the 197.

But it is good sometimes to just get out there on your own and see where your front wheels take you

Im the same, used to "go for a drive" all the time in previous cars, I dont seem to find an excuse in the 197.

Note to self: Must try harder!

Done the triangle a heap of times. tbh I much prefer the roads south of Bala. Great routes between there, Dolgellau and Machynlleth

I love these roads. Done many a trip to Porthmadog this way, such good roads, but as above only ever in my 1.2 Clios so far. Really desperate to go in the 197. Not even that far from me tbh. I was in Oswestry the weekend, but took the 406 as I'd got 3 passenger (plus myself) and a boot full of race timing gear! Then the bloody car started playing up! Should have took the Clio!

Well, it's normally in my front pocket. Had my cargo shorts on and am aware that sometimes it can work loose and end up on the seat. I thought maybe when I squatted down to take a couple of the photos it might have dropped out.

I still can't believe I left it at home. lol
