crazy disc question

when you buy blakc discs!? like:

do they always stay black or doe steh pad surface wear away to silver very quickly?

I've never had any but the black must just be paint on the surface. The only way it would stay black would be if the metal was black, there aren't many black metals!

Say's black zinc plated so presumably just the same as any other disc underneath?

Seems like they'd look a bit odd when bedded in :\

Some more knowledgeable people above, you endup exposing the metal of the main surface but it protects the rest of the discs from corrosion.

the friction area ie where the disc pad touches will wear the coating off - where it isnt it will not rust and hence look better 8)

They would look very good behind white speedlines if they did stay black lol. I'd imagine its near impossible to design such a disc though.
