Clio 200 Supercharged Track Car!

Looks and sounds like a lot of fun...

Shove a bit of cotton wool up the exhaust and that'll sort your noise issues out :thumb:

A lot of people have said let's have a look and then they're surprised at how standard it looks! No shorter final drive, wouldn't see why it would be needed at all? It still pulls really strong in 6th to be honest. Spent enough cash now, modifying stops here and I pay for track days and maintenance.

You’re a better man than me if you can draw the line... it’s never done for me!! :sob:

I have a centricharged s2000 lump in my mk1 MX5 and found shorter gearing really helps. With the not dissimilar peaky delivery of the Renault lump I would imagine there would be a comparable improvement.
That said there’s definitely a point where you have ‘enough’ speed...
Or so I’m told anyhow! :tearsofjoy:

Keep up the good work, look forward to the vids! I’ll warn trackgoing mates not to try it with a red-liveried silver Clio if they come across one!

I know it's not done and I can't help but think 'I still want this, that, this'! - It's a bad habit although better than most other habits.. I bet the MX5 must fly! A Poor 1.8 MX5 probably wondered what was happening last night when I screamed past him popping and banging:tearsofjoy:. First track day hopefully March time!

Bit of an update due here!

I have not posted it yet but here is the dyno graph:

It's been charged now for a couple and months, really enjoying it, car has surprised a fair amount of much more powerful cars and overall I'm over the moon with it! Still a little bit of tidying up to do to which I will be doing over the next few weeks.

The most important things I needed doing were:
- Oil change. I used standard elf oil
- APR rod bolts
- Sump gasket changed
- Gearbox oil was drained and refilled with Fuchs Titan Race 5 SYN oil
- Tie rod needed to be replaced so this was done and car has had the alignment done again
- Proline motorsport braided line kit and now running RBF660 instead of 600
- AFR and Boost gauge pods now all wired in and up and running

Pictures of rod bolts going in:

Now that I know I'm up together with servicing and everything the car needed is done I can now concentrate on tidying up the little things. I will be painting the inside white and the cage red over the next few weeks, renewing my footplate with a slightly different idea to what I have at the moment (idea stolen from @trackspec197 thanks mate! ), tidy up the engine bay and I also have a spare inlet manifold which I may do something with whether that be re paint it a nice clean coat of silver or go for a complete custom design.

Whilst I was having all of the above work done the mechanic decided to pamper the car with a wash followed by a small photoshoot in the empty workshop, not the best photos however they're phone photos and they're taken in the dark! He also said that the engine inside looked really clean!

This needs a little update!

So with the plan of spending a fair amount of time on track this year I was starting to think whether the standard clutch would hold up. So i decided to upgrade and opted for a CG Motorsport Stage 3 5 paddle clutch. I had this fitted and started the bed in process 4 weeks before my first trackday.... Now i don't drive the car daily so it was a challenge but managed to put 150-200 miles on it in that time. The clutch itself felt really strong and has done everything it said on the box. Bargain too! Whilst doing the clutch we all know its a good idea to do the slave so i purchased the metal TRW slave from autodoc and had that fitted too.

I also managed to get hold of a spare inlet manifold which i wanted to paint and get a carbon badge for it. Really impressed with how this came out and suits the bay well IMO.

Now my trackday was coming thick and fast and with all the crap weather I wasn't using the car much so i took the opportunity to get the cage and seats out of the car and give the interior a bit of a spruce up as the standard bare metal was starting to look to plain. I looked into getting it professionally painted but cash and time was low so decided to do it myself in the garage... Heres how it came out:

My first trackday soon came around and i was signing on and preparing to find out what it would achieve on the static noise test! It was 90db which i was very shocked about, seems much louder if im honest.

The car overall on track i was really impressed with but there was obviously some things i took away from it. A lot of this being grip! Yes the car went superbly well but it was a little bit of a handful. I need to work on tyre pressures now that i know more about the temperatures tyres get to when on track!! The car has not got a LSD which it will benefit from but right now i don't want to be splashing a load more cash into it considering we are getting close to the car show/track day season.

Im currently running NS2r's but they struggled a lot with the power so im looking at upgrading to some R888r's or AR-1's - Not to sure yet so open to some suggestions!

Weather was beautiful and the car/day went smoothly with no problems what so ever!

Very nice project! Love the sound!

I’m running currently the Toyo R888R, really good tyre! Needs a bit temperature in them, but that’s with all semis. I’ve also been debating between the AR-1 and R888R, but the AR-1 was more expensive in my size so I chose the R888R.

I'd like to put it up against a Meglio to see the difference. I've driven one before and the SC feels much better and it's a massive kick even with the linear power. Meg lumps seem to wait about 5 seconds before wanting to go anywhere haha.

It's crying out for a diff however my bank account is crying for more money at the moment! lol
