Changing the fuel tank?

Mines got a massive hole in it currently being plugged up by chewing gum, amazingly the only thing that would stop it!

Who's dropped the tank and what am I looking at, exhaust off? I hear the rear beam needs to be removed but I'm assuming thats to stop you cutting the original exhaust???

I think Woody had to do his after a stone cracked his during the bad weather, there were a few pics up on one of his threads when he was doing it, might be worth hunting them out

I've had it done when i had a new fuel pump.

Exhaust off, remove handbrake cables/ disconnect rear brake pipes, bit of a ball ache, hope you have a lift

Did this over the weekend , took about 4 hours including half hour break for fresh air as fumes were making my head spin!

Took mine off with a full tank, relatively easy job. Handbrake cables, brake pipes, fuel lines of etc and then it's held on by 5 daily accessible bolts, simples.

Just remember to disconnect the fuel pump from under rear seats lol.

if you want to get the petrol out before you start you can, if you lift the rear seats there's a plastic panel covering the fuel pump, prize that out with a flathead screwdriver (there are three clips that you should try not to break) then you can undo the large plastic cap to the fuel tank and pump the fuel out with something (think fish tank/aquarium hand pump).

just remember that the tank is plastic and warps under the weight of the fuel, so there's absolutey, positively ZERO chance that you'll get the cap screwed back on again as the circular opening will turn slightly elliptical with it off.

... but on the upside you can get at your fuel

Should have disconnected the pipe to the fuel rail, then added 12v to the pump, and emptied the petrol out of the pipe into a container before dropping
