Not sure if these has been covered but Can I put on 225/45 r17 instead of the standard 215?? On standard 197 alloys! If this is covered please point me in the right direction ta!

Indeed you can, myself and my mate both run 225 on our standard 197 wheels.

Bigger selection of tyres at better prices in 225 width as its a more common size. I run Bridgestone Potenza RE070 (excellent tyre by the way) which aren't available in 215 width.

my track wheels are 225 on 8" rims and i dont like them on the road but on track theyre a massive improvement.

Iv actually noticed that paddy there's a lot more in 225s I'll have a look at the potenzas then and why don't you like them on the road ken?

they just seem to tramline a bit a as theyre so wide for the car.

its probably due to the wide wheel rather than the wider tyre though

on the track theyre loads better though

Highly recommend the Syron Streetrace tyres I'm running, see the thread in this section on them. Could only get them in 225, haven't noticed any difference due to the size, think it's largely down to the type of tyre.
