Brakes - Poor performance

i use either copperslip or ceratec from mintex

the copperslip if used sparingly on the parts lasts a full year...

the ceratec i have found actually seems to wash off/away and at my last brake strip the pads were beginning to seize slightly so when i next do a pad
change it will be back to the copperslip

Would it be worth cleaning inside the caliper when the pads have been removed? If so what would you use??

i do yes - just usually use a cloth with a bit of brake cleaner on if i have some - if not just give it a good scrub with a cloth and if theres a bit of corrosion crust i just scrape it off with a bluntish screw driver

Oh I thought you meant you lube the pistons. I always use copperslip for the pads.

you cant really lube the pistons due to the dust seal and the hydraulic seal

the copperslip stops seizure and also provides a slight dampening effect to lesson the effect of pad squeal
