Tbh i didnt notice any power gains but what yes achieved is more linear power band abit more air/power in the low revs but its all about mapping .

How much are we talking for a bluefin @Johnny 99 ? I paid £800 for a scorpion resonated cat back exhaust supplied and fitted and a re-map on the rolling road at engine dynamics. If the exhaust was £500 supplied and fitted that only leaves £300 for the re-map. Bet that's cheaper than the bluefin?There isn't much information about these and I assume for a reason - if they were worthwhile then there would likely be a lot more of them about.
A custom remap is a lot more expensive, but much better all round and worth the money, if that's the route someone wanted to go down

Well as I said in my earlier post, I'm assuming they aren't popular because they're not really that great for our cars? We all know that getting more power out of these engines is like convincing Kev that Spa ain't all that great...very hard work!! So when you see a company claiming 12bhp increases, the eyebrows get raised!
I know they were really popular for the mk5 Fiesta Zetec S back in the day, a few people had it done from what I can remember.

In pure numbers alone - i gained approx 15bhp (184 - 199bhp) at Engine Dynamics from manifold, exhaust, panel filter, modified airbox inlet and custom remap. That doesnt account for the fact im sure the car was actually worse than standard when i arrived due to not running at its best with standard map and yet "performance" bolt-ons. So a custom remap alone could be in the 8-10 bhp range perhaps in my example.
So a 12hp gain in regard of basic breathing mods and remapping isn't 'easy' to achieve. Let alone 12 bhp purely from a generic map !
Even though K-Tec seem to achieve 215bhp with the same basic mods

I have a Blue Fin map in my R27. It was done by the previous owner to eliminate the kangarooing/flat spot not for power gains as the car is standard (apart from ITG filter). My car runs smooth from cold with no issues. I have read so much cr@p about these online e.g. 12 bhp gains, runs too lean, runs too rich, stay well clear etc. I would agree if you are changing the full exhaust then a custom map would be an advantage but if you want a smooth power delivery the Blue Fin is perfect.
That's the same set up my mate has on his 200. He felt there was an improvement in the mid range & also as you say smoother running. He's never commented on whether the car felt as if it had a 12bhp gain other than to say that's what is claimed. Seems a good thing to so if all you want is smoother running & also as you say the car is easily returned to standard, which was good when he did it as the car was still under warranty. With my exhaust changes I think a remap is the way to go, as you say.
Id easily have the bluefin on my R27.
I used one with great results on my old S3 so wouldnt hesitate with another. Great after sales help too.
