Bigger (64mm) drive by wire throttle body

Maybe (and I say maybe because i don't know yet), i would be able to put the car on a rolling road with the old and new TB in the next weeks. I could be able to "rent" a 64mm TB and figure out if it's any good or not. Stay tuned

Somebody has found a 70 mm throttle body, not like the last one that was 65 mm but at the end that meets the plenum was 70mm. The problem with this one is that you have to make an adpater plate, so is more work.

Some guy from the local forum is selling those at more than 400 pounds, so it doesn't seem a good deal, at least for me.

Things are getting delayed, as my project has turned into a collection of pieces that I have to put together, and right now I don't have the funds to do the proper research on the DBW TB, so I'm waiting for better times to come to do further investigation on my own and test the results on a dyno. I don't know yet if it will be with the mentioned TB or with a different one. I would love to try more than 1 but that is going to be impossible.

People get saying that you get rid of the 2000 flatspot, even more with the 70 mm one, but I can't say anything definite yet as I haven't tried for myself.

Will update the tread when I have something useful for you guys ok?

Cheers

The part number is fron VW and is 078133062B and this cars use that one:

The 70 mm one, is a VDO one, but we don't know the reference, as the goy that sells them says there's no serial number in the TB, so we have to find out from what car it belongs yet.

And the 65mm one is a direct fit ?

You have to bore out a little bit the holes of the TB but apart from that, yes, is a direct fit. The only problem thaqt you will find with it is that the intake plenum, where it meets the TB, is a little less than 65 mm, and that part of the TB is 70 mm. So you will have to match it like the 2 parts of the intake, and that would be everything you have to do to put that TB into your car

Boxster, it applies to all the range of Clio Sport with a DBW TB

The guinea pig would be me, but there's more people in Spain that have done it, and I should meet them in a short while so I can chat to them and have a ride in their cars so I can comment a little bit more.

Thanks Turu, that's great news, let's hope all goes well with this mod, i'm looking forward to hear your feedback.
