beware of the wheel washing machines used at some fitting centres

So I went to pick up my summer wheels after handing them in for some new Hankook V12s. To my horror all the centre caps were missing and large chunks of clear coat was missing from about 50% of the centre of the wheels. When asked the fitting guy just said that some wheels like Toyota and Renault have bad paint that flake off after using the machine. I told him I was not happy, and that he should never have washed the wheels in a machine which removes clearcoat from certain types of rims without asking me or warning me beforhand.

My rims where in very good shape, not perfect but very good, and the clearcoat was certainly not flaking off large portions of the rims. Turns out he has tossed them in a wheel washing machine. From what I can see they have been damaged due to the convex shape of the rim which protrudes and rubs against the machinery in the washer.

So, beware of these machines and wish me luck in getting the fitting centre to cover the damage.:angry: :jedi:
