I took the aux cable from my 1.6, put it in the same slot in the 197 radio but when i scroll through the source theres no aux option so can't listen to my ipod

Does anyone know if theres something else im supposed to do to get it working i seem to remember plugging it into my 1.6 & it worked straight away

Thanks in advance, i need my ipod tunes!

I managed to figure it out, you have to hold down 'expert menu' until a new menu pops up, then scroll through that menu, switch 'Aux' on then its good to go

Sorry for the hasty initial post but at least someone may benefit from it in the future

Cheers

Its a nice touch having the aux cable in there for sure

Another tip is you can feed it out the back of the stereo hole and it should drop out by the right/rear side of the glovebox, no need to even remove glovebox,, then tuck it along the centre console (along the bottom/floor) and pop it up through the handbrake hole, your mp3 player can sit in the cup holder or the storage hole next to the handbrake, it keeps the wire out of sight & stops it getting pinched, you've probly noticed i've had to repair the cable once before...

Im going to solder/shrink the cable where you have repaired it to make sure i have a clean connection.

Was hoping I wouldnt have to remove the glove box! Now to make sure i find the damn radio code just in case i bugger it up

Good idea as i still got a very rare crackle here & there, that repair was far from perfect, put it to some good use that cable has lasted me 6+ years :thumbup1:

Yes, this is the way to do it. Did mine about a year ago, but I have only used it a handful of times. Was a bit of a pain feeding the cable through, but as you say, no holes or drilling required and the cable will happily live in the glove box without anyone being able to see it and get their thieving hands on you pod!
