AP racing brake kit

Like I have said im all for upgrades and making a car nice and doing nice things to it but IMO anyone who fits these to a daily along with £3k suspension on a £2500 Clio with 80k+ needs there head looked at unless they have thousands to throw away and burn.

Also I notice that the pure motorsport states that you need 18" alloys so even if I did want to put these stunning And they are stunning callipers on my car I would need to buy new wheels along with tyres as most people are running standard 17"

guess I’d need my head looked at then, I have got Nitrons and AP racing calipers with a brand new rebuilt drivetrain, It’s not a daily but believe it or not it’s still street drivable, the Nitrons are stiff (90N front 120N rear) but the dampers soak up bumps in a controlled manner.

It doesn’t have to be an 18” alloys, Mines are 17” oz racing + a 10mm spacer. Standard cup wheels (17x8) will fit but probably needed a 20+ mm spacer

I would have said before I bought my Clio there was no way I would spend thousands on the car in excess of it’s value. But I have added up what Has been spent on parts/remap etc., etc. for the car and it is now just as much as I paid for the car.

Everyone is different and everyone has a different financial outlook. To be quite honest if money was not an issue I would have no problem spending large sums of money on expensive upgrades on my Clio. It is not so much about the economics but the enjoyment you get out of the upgrades.

Some times I do thinks it's willy waving, look how much these wheels cost, look how much my suspension is.


It was very much this when I had a mk2 focus RS.

If you have it then spend it how you wish really.

For me, that depends on how you use the upgrades. If its in escalation of who owns the fastest - lightest - highest hp, "look at me" style, then absolutely its pointless.

If you like to invest in the car, use the parts for their intended benefit (ie trackdays, hillclimbs, auto x, etc) and don't show off, then you are a cool guy/gal.
