this has got me thinking. Anyone bought Keyless Protector?

i have a pouch... just throw me key in the pouch at the end of the day.

Works and cost me less than £10 from amazon.

That keylessprotector looks good, shame its over £100

In my opinion I would only bother if I had a more expensive and desirable key-less car. Even a low mileage, high spec, top condition R27/200/Raider is only going to be worth good money to a collector or enthusiast and I don't think these people are the ones to be ordering cars to be stolen.

Personally if I were adding extra security to a car, it wouldn't be the key less protector - at 145 euro I'm not convinced how something that goes over the battery can protect the car, especially when a high number of thefts at the moment are drifting away from key cloning and people are now breaking in for the keys anyway.

I've looked in to security a little bit when I've toyed with the idea of other cars and I like the idea of the Autowatch Ghost - Basically the car can only be started when you put a sequence in (that you pick) on the buttons in your car. For example: Get in the car, press 4321 on the radio and then the cruise control button on the steering wheel before the car will start.

As said above, the pouches are meant to work well and are only cheap from Amazon. You could get one of those for peace of mind.

I've seen more car thefts at the moment where people are breaking in the for keys. I know people say they take the keys to bed with them etc, but IMO it's really not worth the hassle. If someone is willing to break in to my house for my keys, then I will leave them in plain sight and they can take them and the car - My girlfriend's and my safety is more important.

I agree with you Matt about the value etc I was just putting the concept out there. I'm sure the Ghost product is what Ricky from LLF has on his M4. I take it the pouches are similar to the contactless card wallets etc.?

I understand that mate, I think I got a bit carried away haha - I definitely like the concept and I could see why it might appeal to people.

I just prefer the idea of the Ghost product because even if they did clone they key, the car wouldn't start anyway, well that's if I'm correct in thinking how it works? I'm sure it will be the same product LLF has on the M4, although I've not seen the video yet (if he's done one about it)

Yeah, they're lined with something that stops the signal getting out.

If you're worried about theft, a faraday bag with the keys in it placed near your front door would be the way to go.

I have an reasonably expensive Audi on my drive also. As said in my other post I was highlighting the concept!

Can understand that with a 3k Clio but a pristine r27 ain’t a 3k Clio.

People will steal anything if its not bolted down and locked away, even as a getaway car. The days of young'uns hotwiring an Escort Turbo have gone but its almost as easy to steal anything with keyless entry with the right software and distance. As also said, keys are being stolen from homes.

Faraday bags are good, but only work if its a genuine one rather than a cheap eBay or Amazon special. I wouldn't spend £100 on something to protect the key when a steel tin will do the same.

With regards to something to program to stop the car being started, I have something similar built in to my Sprint Booster. It has a pedal lock mode secured with a pin code. Of course, with a bit of time and know how they can disconnect the Sprint Booster and reconnect the throttle back up but hopefully I would have heard the car start by then and sorted it.

I know some guys that have made a wrap cover out of aluminium foil and only take their keycard out of it to open the door. This should also work and maybe is a bit cheaper. The way with the protector in Shmee's vid looks cumbersome and I'm sceptical if it'll work like advertised.

If you are very concerned, get a key card without the keyless part. It is no great hardship to push a button to open and lock the doors and to put the card in the slot.

got faraday pouch for the stang & a steering wheel bar/lock & the spare key is hidden at home & in tin foil!

I had one. Cool feature. Until you stall it then panic type the code in wrong!

Yeah that was one of the tricks for people installing remote start, back in the fast and furious days.
I think the 306 was the last good car that Peugeot made.
