Another Gearbox bites the dust

Seems I'm joining the fold - started crunching slightly going into 3rd. What's the actual problem with them? Can I miss the gear out and forget about it till I sell it?! Or is the box going to implode??
 
Tech told me he would guess if you changed the oil it would help massively mask the issue or even solve it.

really depends on how much you are going to be charged for a new one i guess.
 
Mines been ok so far and I'm hoping it will last a little while with the Meg engine. If I like the conversion with the Clio gearbox then I'm going get new gearbox internals cryogenicaly frozen, add.a Quaife and bingo, jobs a good un.
 
It's a real shame these gearboxes let a great car down!! Surely renault should have come up with a decent replacement for these cars. I had my gearbox changed 1year- 12500 miles ago and seems to be holding up ok. It's sad for the owners that have had more than 1 gearboxes changed left out of pocket!! Does anyone on here have hope for 200t box!!
