Acquiring a new key card...

So my car only came with one key card and I would really like to have a spare.

Plenty of threads out there saying you have to go to renault but most of those a many years old. Has this changed? Can anyone other than renault code the cards now?

If so any recommendations?

I’m pretty sure it’s still Renault who need to program the key.

However....I did see a post on Facebook (?) very recently from a Renault dealer saying they were £XXX for this service - but had a customer who’d mentioned saying he’d just paid three times as much (For example) to have one done elsewhere.

All I’m saying is: it’s seems it’s not a ‘unit price’ for this service and all dealerships are different.

**Have you tried a local key coding place who does the more modern electronic: alarm / immobiliser type keys ?

Hey, I ended up getting one done at Four ashes Renault specialists while I was there to fix an alarm issue. Cost me about £90 so decent price and it all seems to work.

Fairly sure that any garage with Renault CLIP (The diagnostic system) can do them. So most reputable renault specialist garages...

Just wondering whether the £90 is for a keyless card or just an emergency non keyless version as my local specialist has quoted £210 Renault or £90 for non Renault and non keyless!

Was a fully functioning keyless card including the emergency 'hard key'.

Was actually a megan card as that's all they had at the time but it still works and only need it for emergencies.
