hi , ive seen a 56 plate 197 for sale 1 owner 31,000 full history , not been to look at it yet , should it have had the cam belt changed yet or is it ok on that age and millage , anything else to look out for , thanks

Cambelt should be done every 5 years or 70k.

So being a 56 plate is 'should' done. If its not? I'd get them to get it done, or knock the money off to have it done yourself.

If the cambelt's been done, buyer a slightly newer one may be a false economy if the newer one needs doing soon after buying it. It's up to you, I always prefer buying the newest car you can, but sometimes if you find the right one and it's a good price it might be worth compromising.

Cheers guys it's up for £6500 there's a few newer ones same sort of mileage but more money , want something with low miles thought it was a good price , it's about 60 mile away from where I live
