Not crazy on the look of the carbon bonnet. The different coloured panels make it looks too 'tuner' and interfere with the lines of the car I think. I've been advised that painting it is not a sensible option, because by the time you prime and fill etc to make the carbon flush and paintable you've added a whole lot of weight, so I'll be taking the carbon bonnet off and holding onto it for now.

While the car was in the workshop and in pieces I had all the interior beige plastic bits sprayed to charcoal grey/black to match the rest of the interior and also had the headlining done in leather:

HRE R43 rims purchased through amgaustralia.

Specs: 18 x 8, et52, 8kg.

Here's a pic of the unboxed wheel:

Ktec package also arrived:

- Performance Friction 330mm big brake kit
- Ktec braided line kit
- CL RC5+ brake pads
- Motul brake fluid

Weighed the bigger two piece rotors:

The smaller OEM rotors, even with a bit of wear on them, are actually heavier:

Original rim weight bang on 11kg, so with the new rims I've saved about 3kg per corner.

Also got some custom Tikore titanium lug bolts and HRE carbon centre caps:

Fitted:

A problem arose when the centre caps would not fit, the Renault hubs stick out too much for them to clip all the way in:

IMG_9997_zps2ffcfc56.gif

So I got some new rims from AMG with a +46 offset to make the centre caps fit. Here's the wheel fitting round 2, with some new 225 wide tyres:

Centre caps fit fine now:

But with the more aggressive offset the fronts were now scraping on the guards. Could feel it on just about every bump, especially on the front right:

Dropped the car off a East Coast Suspensions to see if they could solve my problem. Here it is ready to have Performance Friction 330mm big brake kit, braided hoses, CL RC5+ pads and KW adjustable top mounts fitted. Was advised that raising the front a touch on both sides and adding some camber from the top mounts oughta fix the scrubbing issue. Going to 225 wide tyres sure didn't help...

Neg 3 camber left
Neg 2 3/4 deg camber right
0 toe

Speachless.

Absolutely stunning!

Im liking the chunky look of the 225 tyres fitted to those rims. Wonder if 225s are much different in price to 215s.

I'm glad you decided against the carbon bonnet. It just didn't look right IMO.

Great looking car mate, excellent and astonishingly expensive mods. Did you measure the weight difference between the roofs by any chance? And how come you didn't stick to the OEM tyre width?

catcams on the go as well, who is doing the fitting/mapping?

Those wheels look so good, along with the rest of the car.

Agree with Yiannis197, that bonnet doesn't look right.

Thanks everyone for the comments! Yiannis197, I love the mods you've done on your car, especially the SC carbon diffuser, I actually think it looks more pure in form and function than the 200 one.

Went for 225 wide tyres because I thought the 215s looked a bit stretched on the 8J rims before. They've worked out great and the Goodyear Asymmetrics have a protective lip that has saved my new rims from kerbside/parking lot scuffs on a couple of occasions already.

As for the carbon bonnet, yeah, it just doesn't look right, I may yet try and get it painted matte grey to match the bodywork.

I didn't get a chance measure the roof weight differences, but according to the Streamline website, the factory metal roof is 20kg, and the carbon one is 4kg, so some decent weight savings there. The diffuser also saves a bit of weight, especially after you discard the aluminium heat shield. Titanium bolts all over the car have also shed a kilo or two.

Regarding fitting/mapping of the catcams, I'm in Australia, so unfortunately I can't take it to a Renault tuning specialist like Ktec. I'll be having the cams fitted by Paul V, a reputable Sydney Renault mechanic, and the mapping will the done with Henk, he of RSTuner fame.
