197 Insurance Suggestions

My Insurance comes up for renewal at the beginning of January. I wondered if anyone could give me any suggestions for a reasonably priced Company to Insure me. My current renewal price with existing company is over £600 which I consider quite a high price!

Thanks

It's difficult to recommend an insurance company on price, as they seem to differ significantly with where you live. I found Churchill the cheapest, but I know that for some they are way off the mark with price.

For me, Allianz Insurance were £650 cheaper than anybody else this year.

They even chucked in Uninsured Driver Cover which means I won't lose my NCB if some clown in a wrecked old Escort T-Bones me. It really does depend on your own circumstances, but I'm 24 with 3 Yrs NCB and 7 Points so if you're better off then me in that respect then I'd have thought Allianz could be worth a try. I do live in a ''posh'' postcode areq though which does seem to help me a little and I have a kiddie which I'm told makes me more ''responsible''.

Ye, I think if you are married and have children it brings it down. I am young, have a fast car, not married and don't have any children, so my insurance is high! Redeeming facts are my 4 years driving experience and next month will have 5 years NCB. Plus I have a good post code.

It is sh!t the whole postcode thing... I mean where we are in Altrincham, our postcode is WA14. This covers a huge portion of Cheshire, including two fairly ****e estates and on the other extreme it also boasts home to Hale, Bowden and Hale Barns. Home of the WAGS around here!!! I was looking at moving to Pickmere at the start of this year which is a WA15 prefix and it dropped about 30% off my premium for the sake of going 6 miles down the road. Didn't take into account the fact that there's only one road into Pickmere, which is a country lane, and the nearest motorway junction to it is the infamous M6 Knutsford Crash Centre Of The Universe Junction.

I just did mine (insurance up mid Jan), Direct Line wanted £588 renewal. I got a few quotes and all were around £550 - £600. Then I tried Aviva, got a quote of just over £300, they are doing 12 weeks free if you get a quote online. I am looking forward to phoning Direct Line and telling them to get stuffed. EDIT: I should add I have a 200, but my guess is 200 / 197 probably similar in terms of insurance.

Use the comparison sites and try Direct Line as their cover is the best going!

PLEASE don't use Go Compare....nobody wants those idiots getting any more money so they can put stupid adverts on TV & Radio  lol

i used autonet insurance as i was with them with my van. they let me swap my van policy onto the clio and adding my mrs on it didnt go up my more than a few quid.

Its hard to make suggestions without knowing your circumstances although for me putting my mum on my insurance knocked £200 off for me..

The comparison sites used to be good for me, but if you search around some that dont use these middle men, you can sometimes beat them. Aviva were FAR cheaper than the best qoute on confused this time around.

Mine is with some none discript company! :s
Only people who would do it.
Comparison sites always help, but I found it is best to phone up a few not just the one that is he cheapest, the quotes you get arn't always correct!

Little fibs always help like garaged and parked in a secure car park! 8)

They dont when the inspector arrives at your door at a random time in the evening and finds your garage full of junk and no space for a car. (I was talking to one, when they came out to interview me after a theft claim!)

Try the 2 insurance companies on this site. If you become a member you should get a discount. I am currently insured through Sky insurance - details in the traders section.
