197 exhaust loudness

I read somewhere the standard exhaust is stainless steel is this correct or bullsh!t?

They're mild steel as far as I know, and do like to rot

Didn't think they would be. There was a saying the 172/182 exhaust came pre rusted from the factory!

It depends on what you're used to I guess. I don't think the standard exhaust is loud - it's louder than a 'normal' car, but that's to be expected of course. I've always thought it sounds its nicest between 3-5k, after that the engine seems to take over a bit - from the inside at least anyway.

I worked in a Peugeot garage once and I had to PDi a 309 gti that had Sat in a field for eighteen months. the grass must have been on the underside as it was rusty as hello. I was told to brush off what I could.lol
