197 Albi Blue Track car

Been lingering in the shadows for a short while checking out everyone's builds so thought id finally get round to loading up my Track build, this is the first time ive gone down the route of a track car as i mainly do stance and off road 4x4's so going to be a slow learning curve but already enjoying the experience.

So bought this car a few months back from a friend who didnt really fall in love with it, it had its few faults here and there like idle issues, plan was to strip out as much weight as possible, clean up the exterior and start adding mods ready for track use.

Pembrey was the first track day to do a shake down and see what needs replacing with uprated parts. car ran spot on but struggled with the tyre which the vehicle came with and the lack of support in the standard seats. out came the shopping list and the work begin. 180834142_10165221009245002_6147633036287285246_n.jpg181931646_10165221009035002_1148312374088895337_n.jpg181735410_10165221009115002_384659545329910915_n.jpg246508718_4385939444859024_477178403701733508_n.jpg246422051_564621711291283_6283774499139610375_n.jpg246474992_420473436096936_8684387349505024802_n.jpg201085023_2139281926212927_6237433190183903300_n.jpg201503573_2139281922879594_8274374320461859276_n.jpg202834396_2139281932879593_3532384223304888397_n.jpg203150993_2139281929546260_2466804258426590064_n.jpg246739350_282849293696960_6099847956349709080_n.jpg243510618_891188801790440_4408265627739751002_n.jpg197345102_2132884343519352_7835269029738539053_n.jpg196688017_2132884340186019_7476619604999233079_n.jpg247035082_348324300421329_7722528617849991033_n.jpg246533636_197988932475865_3922949853381188785_n.jpg241268362_2203164913157961_199197849639781828_n.jpg241510096_2203422073132245_6521845677793763101_n.jpg240784924_2198523596955426_9148341947480701326_n.jpg241638661_569394137827961_8432885149762141362_n.jpg241624288_569370927830282_5451309975160343368_n.jpg241634276_569347464499295_1571501708899323260_n (1).jpg241641240_569370087830366_4874357894387505881_n.jpg241641044_569350321165676_8034068545354315023_n.jpg241640560_569202261180482_5305107150648970669_n.jpg241637566_569360561164652_5741463508519653129_n.jpg241655822_569366554497386_5274930597395381144_n.jpg246296413_3088400651484426_1902432262115907465_n.jpg246263830_243489511132375_1880561816457110576_n.jpg

So yesterday the Clio went in for its dreaded MOT and guess what failed hahaha. so last night was a shopping gash to get parts and good opportunity to upgrade some parts for track, first up was uprated brakes and pads. we shall see how these handle on track.Screenshot 2021-10-20 104709.pngs-l1600.jpgs-l1600 (1).jpg

Welcome :french: First thing to do would be get wheels that fit. They'd look and handle a lot better. And seeing as your front brakes are fluctuating, your brake pipes have corrosion, and your coil springs are corroded, it would be a good time to look at a caliper rebuild and a suspension update/refresh.

Yeah the coils on it arent the best so probably looking to upgrade them to Gaz coilovers and get some decent braided lines

Looks like a good start. As said, your best getting wheels and tyres that fit. Looks like someone, for god knows what reason, has gone for a stretched tyre look. Amazed these survived a track day without rolling off the rim. They also look like rainsports, great in the wet, not great in the dry. Get yourself some decent alloys (7.5") and semi slick tyres (215/45/17).

So managed to finally get it through a MOT, a lot of parts needed changed and few got upgraded on the way, black series power flex in the arms, new callipers with disc and pad set up. Love how well it drives already sticks and brakes amazing, next up on the list is move removal of excess metal weight removal of Sunroof for Poly carb, Poly carb windows and possible a boot change for fibreglass also. 254925089_2256254291182356_670324079068276422_n.jpg

I had a kit from @RSRowe and it had the vast majority of the parts I needed. I had some extra wires spliced in to extend the loom to get some of the wiring out of the way of the mounting tray and top of the gear box, and look a little nicer.

I got an Odyssey PC680 battery for £99.99 from the Battery Group

Been looking at the PC680 how are you finding it ? Mines currently a daily but will be off road road soon to be mainly track.

It is fine. @RSRowe said that his Clio with a PC680 sounds a bit laboured when it starts. My Clio will sometimes be used for a week to get to and from work, then sit on the drive for a few weeks and go unused. The PC680 has been fine. It does sound like it a little bit underpowered when you start the car in the cold, but it fires up every time on the first attempt. I think that a PC680 should be fine for daily usage, but will definitely be fine it is used more as a track car.

How much we looking at a kit? guessing you dont supply lightweight battery also

Mine sits for weeks at a time, and it’s never not started on me when I’ve got it out for a trackday.
Like Mr Burrell says, it’s just a bit laboured.

I did look at getting a Li battery myself, but refuse to by a ‘special’ charger for one.

PC680 is slightly laboured on start ups but sits behind passenger seat a treat and isn’t very expensive.
