197 airbag light

Hi,

I’ve recently bought a fast road/track 197 and trying to get rid of the airbag and service light. I’ve searched and can’t seem to find a definite answer.

I’ve narrowed it down to 2 faults now:

Rear inertia reel circuit open
Drivers front seat position sensor circuit open

I can’t seem to find the plugs for these to put the resistors into to get the light off.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Does your car have bucket seats or different seats installed compared to how it rolled out of the factory?

The first error looks like a seatbelt issue and the second error suggests that there is something wrong with the front seats and the ECU cannot find the sensor that it is looking for.

You could try and find someone with access to CLIP to code out the errors. These are the kind of error messages you get when you remove the factory seats and take out the seatbelts.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes I’m sure the inertia reel is to do with seat belts but can’t find the correct plug.

They’re after market seats bimarco so don’t use the original wiring.

Plugs are on the looms that connect to the OEM seatbelts. You need to bang 2x 3.9Ohm resistors in drivers plug and 1x 3.9Ohm resistor in passenger plug to get the light off.

Not sure about the "Rear inertia reel circuit open" - If you have someone with an RSTuner or CLIP nearby, they could disable them for you though. If you're near Bristol, give me a shout and i should be able to help. Have a few spare resistors too. Otherwise - resistors can be found cheap on ebay or something...

£1.89 for a pack of 20 resistors - get 3.9Ohm.

Thanks. I did see that and mine has resistors in those plugs already, I’ll try removing the plug and wiring direct to see if that works.

The front belt lights are off it’s just the seat position sensor one that’s on, do I need 2 resistors in that one?

Not sure about the seat position sensor(s) - but i know the RSTuner is capable of turning off all apart from the front seat belt pretensioners. Where are you based?
