The only difference between single and double pressing is the dead locks. Without deadlocks if someone was to break the window they'd be able to unlock the door from the inside; with deadlocks they couldn't. I always double pressed. Edit: too slow!

I believe double press is the deadlocks.

Do you have access to a CNC machine through anyone you know? Before I sold the car I was contemplating getting some speaker grills fitting a fraction bigger than the hole so they would push fit into place. Obviously recessed so that the tweeter doesn't get in the way. Or if your going DIY you...
