Fair enough, I just don't see the point of having a wider alloy and not utilising a wider tyre. You're accepting the penalty of extra weight (appreciate cup racer alloys have a mixture of magnesium etc but probably still heavy suckers) whilst not utilising the benefit of fitting a wider tyre.

Surely 215 would be far too narrow for an 8" alloy?? I would suspect a 225 or 235 would be better suited?? Perhaps do some research and see what size the cup racers use seeing as it's a cup racer rim and not a road rim.

I've run the powerflex black for a couple of years now on pure track car and they've been spot on. Will be upgrading to solid bearings next year front and rear.

I've got set of cup racer springs here but the trouble is I can't see ANY markings to suggest spring rates :angry:. They will be replacing a set of KW V2's, which have been used solely on track and have been utterly brilliant.

I tried a 225 fitment on front and it was horrible on the 7.5" rim. Can't remember if I dropped to a 40 profile though, which I suspect I did. The sidewall on those pics looks particularly tall. Some tyres come up wider and taller than others. I'd go to a 215/45 profile as said above.

Also speak to @tombate911 . He used my V2's to develop the Compbrake topmounts for the KW's on the earlier 197/200

Clio's on either a race wet tyre or a decent tyre like Rainsports are phenomenal. Some of my best track days have been in torrential rain. It's a real leveller and dancing round 300+bhp cars is a right giggle. Don't rule out a wet track day.

Looks like the fastest lap I've ever seen ;-)

Sh1t happens sometimes. Although I'm no fan of Javelin, I wouldn't necessarily lay the blame completely at their feet. It really does depend who turns up on the day. I did Donno with them a few weeks ago without too much agro, although I do find a massive difference between week-day track days...

Looks like a good start. As said, your best getting wheels and tyres that fit. Looks like someone, for god knows what reason, has gone for a stretched tyre look. Amazed these survived a track day without rolling off the rim. They also look like rainsports, great in the wet, not great in the dry...
