    Wheel spacers thoughts

OK, tonight I removed the spacers, the rear ones were bolted on and pain in the ass to remove, guess the guy who fitted them never heared of anti seize grease. Anyway I had to remove the bolts with a big iron breaker bar and the spacers with a pulley puller. I quickly discovered the front bolts...

    Wheel spacers thoughts

That is because they usually don't check for it because they don't know. Had that with a tie rib for my brake lines, had to wait for special brackets but needed to have the APK but is was "fine" because "properly attached" haha

    Wheel spacers thoughts

I was disturbed while typing my message so I will continue 5. The spacers will act like rims with lower offset (ET Einpress Tiefe) changing the scrub radius (like Suj correctly stated, have been dealing with this issue with my old Honda's in the past as well), the problem with this that it...

    Wheel spacers thoughts

I just talked to one of Holland's alignment guru's and this man is considered a wizard in street and racing cars. He gave me the advice to get rid of the spacers. They will reduce self centering of the steering wheel At low speeds the car will corner like a plow The stress on the wheel bearings...

Oil consumption normal on a 197?

I warm my car up by driving normal, do half an hour of fun, revving mid-high up to 7K. 300ml in 550km. 5W-40. No smoke and no major leaks other than some "sweating". 2006 197 190K km. Seems on par with Type R engines, when you rev high and make them work, they consume oil, which is normal for...

    High oil consumption

Good tip, and TDC sensor might not work properly with that brown tar on it as well.

    My Ultra Red 197

What year is your Clio? Ordered the camshaft sensor at Renault but they said there are two kinds with my VIN, I said the one with three wires, but there are two sensors for my built years with 3 wires. I have one of the first cars that rolled of the assembly line. I don't fancy taking...

    Intermediate bearing shot, advice

I have inspected it closer, to me it seems the bearing as replaced and they used liqui moly grease to get the new bearing on /in and did not bother to wipe the excess off. I could not feel resistance when turning the wheel by hand in neutral or play in the axle. Only way is to remove the axles...

    Intermediate bearing shot, advice

Inspected my 197 for the Lambda connections and checked the whole car for signs of attention. II found the intermediate bearing leaking grease, so it is shot. There are plenty of replacements available, but bearing only. Is there a Renault part number for the bearing and it's house or does it...

Going back to stock exhaust : Q about mid-pipe

Today I had my stock muffler (as new) with custom stst tips and custom midpipe with sports damper. All very nicely welded together with flat flanges. Superb job with a decent silent car as a result but still a good roar 6K+ Improved the mid range torque a lot, removed most of the flat spot and...

Going back to stock exhaust : Q about mid-pipe

I am going back to the stock exhaust, this is because of the Akrapovic which came with the car being way to loud, the police is on the hunt for loud non-stock exhaust and I don't want to risk any big fines and/or vehicle confiscation of car papers by the road agency. I have bought a good as new...

2000-2500 rpm flat spot engine sputter

I had some starting issues which I fixed: TDC sensor for OE, NGK plugs and Valeo green top coils, removed KN filter back to OE Renault. Did an ECU reset. The car starts and runs super. Idle is pretty much stable. Like a girlfriend, some days better than others, but generaly OK. But I keep...

    Acoustic valve

Correct, in lower gears or RPM the engine benefits from longer intake trajectory to get better torque. Honda had this on B18c4 engine like found in the 1.8 VTi but then used in the intake manifold itself.

Thanks, MAP is much better, no issues, just like Honda PGM-FI :drunk:

    Identifying TDC part number

Replaced the TDC today, cleaned the connector, fires right up on 10 attempts. No codes, and OBD readings show solid readings. I also replaced a KN filter for OE filter. Oil impregnated aftermarket filter should never be used with heated wire MAF applications, the oil gets on the wire and can...
