    UR 197 F1 Team R27 - Progress Thread

The Powerflex top engine mount was causing too much noise and vibration, so that was removed. I read somewhere that you didn’t need to support the engine for this, but decided to anyway. Thank goodness I did as the engine still dropped about a cm. The difference was night and day and as...

    UR 197 F1 Team R27 - Progress Thread

First thing to go was the wheels a lovely set of Speedlines with Yokohama AD08R tyres. I’d used these before on a few other cars and really rated them in the dry as well as the wet. Oh yes, and added my air brake (roof rack) so that I can carry my bikes. However, I’m too lazy to take it on...

    UR 197 F1 Team R27 - Progress Thread

I thought I’d start my progress thread before I forget and lose track of my RS Clio. I bought this about 3 months ago with 52,000 miles on the clock. It was standard apart from Milltek resonated system Milltek decat Powerflex top engine mount Powerflex top stabiliser mount ITG panel filter...

Low idle & potential to stall.

Mine did this, I popped the TDC sensor out, cleaned it with WD40, popped it back in and it’s never done it again. I’ve also noticed an improvement in power delivery. Sometimes it felt down on power prior to this. It’s a 45 minutes job. The sensor is located at the lower front of the engine...

    Anyone for a nova ?

My first car was a 1.3 Nova SR, loved it, brown tartan seats! I wanted one of these, but couldn’t afford the insurance. I can’t imagine there are many of these left now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

    200 Grams Lowering Springs

I’ll read that with interest thanks Shuv, I’m just about to refresh my suspension on my R27 (56,000 miles, nothing wrong with it, just ‘a fool and his money’ scenario) and considering to go standard Cup springs or Eibach as I’d read they are quite compliant compared to others. I had a 182 Cup...

    200 Grams Lowering Springs

I couldn’t agree more, I’m too old for rock hard suspension. I also find softer rather than firmer allows the tyres to retain contact on bumpier roads (just about every road where I live) whereas too firm will have you bouncing or sliding off the road.

    Engine fan cutting in

Where is it temp gauge needle? It actually sits very low and the thermostat opens at 75 degrees. This is generally very low compared to most cars and should sit between the first and second marks, only about a third of the way across the range. If it constantly higher than that. A previous...

Not been on here in ages! Just acquired a 200 cup :)

I love 15” 2118 Speedline wheels, IMO the best looking wheel for the 1*2

    Bruno's Renault Clio RS197 - Albi Blue

Some great photos there, the lighting and shadows really enhance the Clio’s lines. Even the interior shots are well lit, with some areas almost in total darkness. I love this, there is no need for me to have a frame totally illuminated, it emphasises the subject and focal point even more...

    Hello :)

Love that S2, welcome along. It never fails to amaze me what other cars people have as well as their little Clios when they could possibly afford something much more. I guess this is a testament to just how good RenaultSport Clios are. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro

    My Albi is dead :(

Blimey! You were so lucky to walk away unscathed. Are those curtain airbags or the roof lining in the photo? I didn’t know the 197 had curtain airbags, nice to know they do if that’s the case. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

    Bike Carrier - 197

I’ve often found rear racks can cause small scratches due to pads moving / rubbing against body work. I’ve used roof bars on my last 4 cars and probably wouldn’t go back now. I got brand new Renault roof bars for £80. I’ve just got to remember when I’ve got my bikes on board and not to enter...

    Lets talk about dogs

I love Westies, they will do exactly what you ask of them, but only if they also want to do it and then only at a time that suits them. Our youngest (left) was my son’s dog, he left her with us when she was about 4 months old so he could go on holiday. She’s been with us since, almost 6 years...
