Suspension noise or is something inside the cabin noisy? (update: now with video)

Lift the car up and check for excessive play on the exhaust mounts (they parts that secure the exhaust to the underside of the car). Try moving the exhaust by hand and see if you can reproduce the noise.

Suspension noise or is something inside the cabin noisy? (update: now with video)

A video would be great. However I think your problem is different (most likely something to do with the exhaust). On my 200 the noise originates from the front left side of the car (more specifically the wheel area). It is easier to spot with the windows up. Perhaps this is an important clue - a...

Suspension noise or is something inside the cabin noisy? (update: now with video)

Small update: the front shocks were replaced under warranty. Absolutely no change in noise (however the new shocks are a little stiffer which is nice, Renault use 197 front shocks according to the ACTIS solution mentioned here in the forum!) Having had both the top mount and the shock replaced...

Straightening bent alloys - yes or no?

The question is, those who 've had their alloys straightened, what are your impressions? Did the wheel/wheels deteriorate faster afterwards? Obviously they aren't going to be as strong as when they came out of the production line but if they can last for some time its not going to be a...

    Cup springs Clio 200

You 'll have no problem then, the new top mount design is in effect for cars built after September 2010. ;)

Straightening bent alloys - yes or no?

Well let me put it this way, if I hadn't had them checked I probably wouldn't have known there was a problem. From what I can see they have a couple of flat spots each. The thing is, I don't like the design of these alloys (the 200 is available over here only with these alloys, I don't know...

Straightening bent alloys - yes or no?

Used alloys seems like a good idea but I'd have to be sure they are 100% straight. The thing is, 17" alloys over here last for about 6 months before they start to become damaged. This means that finding a set of perfect alloys is going to be nearly impossible. I'll check with Renault although...

Straightening bent alloys - yes or no?

So after a year of driving on the infamous Greek road network which resembles the lunar surface both front alloys seem to be a little bent. I did the classic 'raise the car, turn the wheels by hand and watch for irregular movement' test and it is there, barely, but there. Rear wheels are...

Knock noise but only after car wash

Metallic tinkling at low speeds could also originate from the brake pads, specifically the springs used to hold them in place.

Knock noise but only after car wash

Thats weird. A few of us 200 owners have the inverse problem: a mysterious knock from the front left on speed bumps and other similar anomalies that seems to go away for a while after a wash or heavy rain (!)

    197 front brake rattle/noise.

I'll ask the dealer if its covered under warranty first. ;) I confirmed its the brake pad springs by driving over a rough road and checking for the noise, when I press the brake pedal it goes away.

    197 front brake rattle/noise.

Thanks for the link! I see they also sell the newer 200-specific mats for LHD and they ship to Greece :D

    197 front brake rattle/noise.

Do you have a part number? Is this a Renault kit? More importantly, is this a wear & tear item? Or is it covered by the warranty?

    197 front brake rattle/noise.

Thanks for the swift answer. Oh well. Looks like this 'll have to wait then!

    197 front brake rattle/noise.

Bringing this thread back from the dead because I noticed a rattle similar to the one you describe when going over rough surfaces. Faint, metallic, from the front left, can be heard only with the windows down. I did the old 'kick the tyre test', and sure enough, the front right wheel is...

    Nearside rear toe angle?

Read my post again, I said 10-15' of a degree (one degree = 60 minutes) :) Renault specs for the rear angle give a tolerance of 0-30' for each wheel with a total toe in of 1 degree (sum of left and right toe in). The nominal value is 10-15' for each wheel.

    Nearside rear toe angle?

As gaz said, both rears toe in slightly, around 10-15' of a degree on average. However, if its really that noticeable you should have it checked out. Rear geometry is fixed, having different shocks installed will not alter the toe in and camber.

    Cleaning the instrument panel

What is the best way to clean the instrument panel? The plastic covering the dials is incredibly scratch-friendly. If even a little dust has settled on it, cleaning with a piece of cloth leaves thousands of tiny scratches that become apparent when sunlight hits it. I know this is a very...
