One for future reference- Steering issues 197 / 200

I’ve had the infamous clonk that you can feel/hear intermittently through the steering when stationary/at parking speeds for a while, it only occasionally happened at <30mph over undulating corners and never during spirited driving so let it be until it started happening more often recently. I...

    Painting Gordini Wheels?

I can't see why you couldn't have them refrubed anthracite, whether it would suit the 'diamond cut' edges or they could change that I'm not sure. I think the Gordinis are the best looking wheels you can have on a 197 so would keep em, anthracite looks a bit too agressive for my taste and had...

    Which model is this?

That makes sense, the wings are much narrower hence thinking it was a Twingo. I guess all the sporty styling like the twin exhaust, steering wheel with yellow stripe and (fake?) wing vents threw me off. I do kinda like the low profile front bumper.

    Which model is this?

I came across this Clio in North London today, from a distance I thought it was a beefed up Twingo but seems to be a debaged RS Clio of some sort. It had leather interior which makes me think some kind of Gordini, or maybe retrimmed. Looked like a neat package, only wish I could've heard that...

    Tailgate Rust & Perforation Warranty

I'm planning on treating/preventing a few areas against rust and came across this thread having a search for common issues. I started paying attention to the area of the tailgate where people are reporting rust bubbles and noticed water settles in the same spot. I'm thinking as a preventative...

    New (to be!) 197 Owner

Welcome to the wonderful world of RS Clio! I'm sure you'll enjoy the car, Golf GTI's are good but these cars feel something special. The part number for the door strips you'll need is 8200341503. I changed them earlier this week, the old ones pull out and you'll need a decent tar/glue remover...

Pure Motorsport Cylinder Head Cover Bolts?

Has anyone here tried Pure Motorsport's Cylinder Head Cover Bolts? They look like a sturdy replacement for the factory bolts and come with washers which may help prevent the common issue of leaking bolts.

    Torque Settings

Just a quick a quick note that the 3x bolts (15) for the steel support which fits between the two hub carriers and lower arm ball joint attaches to (pivot lower ball joint holder) aren't 10 Nm and should be 110 Nm, nice typo Renault!

    New owner 197 in Glasgow

Welcome and enjoy the car! If I remember correctly the aux cable plugs into the CD Changer socket on the back of the radio unit. There's currently a pair of Recaros on ebay if you're feeling flush, otherwise the standard seats can be picked up reasonably when they're around. A decent option...

    Dougs Albi blue 197

I changed the gearbox oil with the standard Elf NFJ last week and haven’t noticed any difference myself, still stiff to go in some gears and whiny bearing type noise like someone left the hot tap running. I’ll give the Redline MTL a go next time round. I’m not sure it needed changing really...

FF Clio 200 Clonk from the Front Right

I have a mild clonk on the o/s/f when the wheel drops, had an identical noise that grew progressively worse on the n/s/f which was the lower ball joint in hub carrier that needed replacing. The top mount/strut seems fine and ARB and anti-rotation links are both new, which points to lower hub...

    Recaro Seat Repair South East?

I think it may be sold, once the seat is repaired a cover may be a good call. I have a new seat base available but looking to get my current one repaired as the upper bolster also needs doing, may put the new seat base up for sale if the repair goes well.

    Recaro Seat Repair South East?

Hey guys, I have the usual wear on the two O/S bolsters and wondering if anyone knows a decent repairer in the south-east? I've spoken to capital seating who say they can do it in a day but also said it won't be an exact match. I'm considering a full retrim but would prefer a repair as the...

    Bonnet Alarm Sensor Fixing?

Thanks man, when the bumper was replaced the sensor wasn't fitted properly as it was at an angle and the bonnet isn't completely level either. I've disconnected it for now until I find a suitable fixing. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

    Bonnet Alarm Sensor Fixing?

My bonnet does appear to be slightly higher on the passenger side, similar to this picture from @Dystant in this thread. The only way I can see to lower the bonnet would be on the hinge mounting bolts which involves removing the wing. In case anyone has an issue with their bonnet sensor in the...

    Check your scuttle drain!

The tubes have a 'one way' flap that allows water to flow out but not back up, I'm guessing without the tube that moisture could potentially work its way up into the engine bay. The wheel arches should prevent that but it's the only reason I can see for having tubes with a one way flap. It's...

    Bonnet Alarm Sensor Fixing?

Thanks man, on the bonnet side on mine there's a just a hole where there should be some kind of fixing (possibly adjustable) that pushes down on the switch.

    Bonnet Alarm Sensor Fixing?

The alarm sensor/switch on my bonnet doesn't seem to be pushed down far enough with the bonnet closed and think there may be a missing fixing on the bonnet. I'd really appreciate it if anyone can do me a favor and take a picture of the fixing and I'll try and find something that matches. Having...

    Quick alignment question

If you want the cup settings then specify your's has the 'additional extreme pack', mine is a cup and the alignment centre I use defaults to the standard sport suspension.

    Pollen/Cabin Filter Fitment

The last time I replaced it I went for one of the + filters and found it was the top part of the filter that didn't want to go in and was folding/scrunching up, pushing down on it to flatten it out and slide it in did the trick.
