    Glacier White 200 Cup

@EthanMenace has spent the past week sorting out the gearbox. After looking at the internal damage inside the gearbox we decided to replace both the 3rd/4th gear hub and synchros and the 5th/6th gear hub and synchros as well as some other minor parts in the box. So not the usual gearbox synchro...

    Fast Road/Track Ultra Red 197

The new clutch that we fitted was a genuine Renault part but was stamped with LUK and Valeo in different places.

I have put up a few videos from our recent trip to Snetterton. This was @EthanMenace fast solo session This is me chasing down a Hyundai i20N This Porsche 718 GT4 RS either gave up trying to keep ahead or just slowed down after being shamed by a Clio This is a video of various hot laps...

    Airbag ECU removal

I couldn't tell you. Although I have coded out the air bags I have removed from my Clio (I still have the curtain airbags in the rear as my car still has an interior) I have not disconnected the airbag ECU from the loom at any time.

197 sport. Advice on air filter/ mapping

Get it remapped. Whoever does it should be able to tell you if there was a map in there already. If it is standard they can probably smooth out the power delivery.

The gearbox teardown is underway. The synchros have definitely been mashed. There are remnants of a synchro sitting on a bearing in the photo below. The 3rd/4th synchro hub has seen better days. Same for the 5th/6th synchro hub. These teeth were described by one engineer (@RSRowe) as...

    Glacier White 200 Cup

I purchased some very expensive MSV photographs from our day at Snetterton this week. I am fairly sure if you printed out a copy of the photo the weight of it would still be more than the same weight for the price of gold.

    Glacier White 200 Cup

You might be right. The thicker Millers gearbox oil only lasted one track day before it was changed to some Redline stuff. Ethan has wasted no time and has extracted the box already without removing the sub frame. Next step is to open up the box and see what needs replacing. Most of this...

    Glacier White 200 Cup

I think that the seller of the GW 200 would be the real winner here. Runing one track car fits our small and measly budget.

Thanks for the link. I did find the manual a few weeks ago. But yours is the first free link that I have seen. Have you made much progress with your box yet? We are trying to work out if we need to acquire a press for a gearbox rebuild.

    Glacier White 200 Cup

Yesterday we went to Snetterton for a track day. The track day was organised by MSV and despite the weather being predictably sunny, warm and dry, there were only 66 cars booked on. Our plan had been to take the Clio to a track that we knew well to test out the new geo of 4 degrees of negative...

KTR Induction Kit Vs K&N Panel Filter

The KTR kit adds some proper noise but not much, if any, performance. I have not used a K&N kit so I could not tell you if there is any difference to a standard filter.

We got a few jobs done on the Clio over the weekend. First job was to replace the old sun strip that had bubbled and perished. It had been on the Clio for a few years so I had done well as a cheap bit of vinyl from eBay. It was a horrible job removing the old sun strip as the black plastic...

    Link's Racing Blue 197

I haven't bothered with the 6,000/6 months checks but have still had it serviced every 12,000 mile or 12 months. The dealer I take it to has stamped the book to say that the warranty has been extended for another 12 months every time. The 6 month check is quite simply an inspection. The front...

    Link's Racing Blue 197

I am lucky enough to have a GR Yaris and a 200. My 200 spends more time on track than the road and is a bit too harsh to drive around as a daily now. The GR Yaris is my daily and now on over 40,000 miles. Both of them are excellent to take out for a Broad blast, or a track day. The Clio gives...

To update or to not update - Clio mk3 R27 - kangaroo / bunny hopping

I agree. If you have recently acquired the vehicle then you have inherited any defects and probably do not have a warranty claim. It would make sense to take the car to get it remapped as the condition and performance of the engine is likely to have changed over the years so that the software...

Crunching TL4.........*NOW WITH POSSIBLE BETTER SYNCHRO RINGS!!

I have had a recent experience of a crunchy gearbox. When it is properly knackered you will know and be able to feel it. A sign that things right are not right is when you cannot change gear without having to "wait" for the gearbox to go up or down a gear - normally it will only affect a few...
