    Speakers Cutting out Intermittently

It appears this was due to the wires for the factory tweeters (which were removed years ago) touching each other after recently replacing the tweeter covers, some electrical tape and it's all working now.

    Speakers Cutting out Intermittently

My car has recently developed an issue where the N/S/F speaker will intermittently slightly click/pop when I switch the stereo on and then none of the speakers will work. I’ve since replaced the speakers and head unit as they were well overdue, yet the fault still happens so it must be related...

Zen and the Art of Clio Maintenance

I’ve been working on the car a fair amount the last few months… I recently had to replace the tailgate and bumper, then also swapped to a 200 diffuser at the same time as it came with the bumper! After a few years the new rear end is refreshing, I think the 197 face and 200 booty is the best of...

The Definitive What Exhaust Do You Have Thread...

They are spoken of very highly, after reading reports of 4 baffles going on this site it just made me wonder... one member said his mid silencer went twice and rear once, another's friend bought one and it started rattling the next day. I plan on keeping the 197 for the life of the car so a high...

Twingo 133 as a Daily Driver?

Thanks for the replies, I'm ideally looking at a 133 w/cup pack for the sharper handling and can live with a bumpy ride as I won't be too concerned about keeping the car perfect. I'd like to keep the 197 going for a good while yet and feel it's being abused during the commute, reducing it's...

Twingo 133 as a Daily Driver?

Hi guys, I’ve recently been thinking about keeping the 197 as a weekend and track car, due to the 20 min commute recently turning into a 2 hr round trip, all on city roads full of traffic, speed bumps and shockingly bad road surfaces. I was thinking of something nippy and nimble and naturally...

The Definitive What Exhaust Do You Have Thread...

Hi guys, I’ve been looking at options for exhausts as I’d like to save some weight, free up some performance and have a little more noise. I’m not looking for anything too drony/loud and the exhaust which seems to tick all these boxes is the Akrapovic. I’m also looking at a custom exhaust which...

    Hot Oil Smell in Cabin

Here's to hoping... if it's a common occurrence I think we would've heard about it more often due to the amount these cars are used on track. I should add I did have an oil leak from the camshaft sensor at the time, I don't think any of it was burning off though as it seemed quite happy to pool...

    Hot Oil Smell in Cabin

I've noticed this once myself when hitting the limiter a few times on a warm day with the windows down, I rarely touch the red line and assumed it was because the engine isn't used to it. I'm now wondering if it's common so interested to see what others say... I'll test it again soon for the...

    Timing rattle on cold start?

The main reason I didn’t change the dephaser is reading that it’s not prone to issues like the 172/182. It does sound like it’s from the top of the timing area but could be the sound bouncing, I’ll keep an ear on it and remove the cover when I have the time to try and confirm. I came across...

    Timing rattle on cold start?

Hey guys, I've noticed as the weathers become colder that I have a rattle/chattering sound on idle from behind the timing cover on cold starts, as soon as the engines warm the noise reliably disappears. The engine runs nice and smoothly, my only thought is that it's the dephaser pulley as I had...

    Idiot's guide to lowering...

If the Eibachs lower by 20/25mm, I assume that's against the standard 197 suspension rather than the Cup chassis? So on a Cup, they'd lower by 13/18mm?

    RS 197 weight reduction

I haven’t stripped anything out (yet) but lightweight wheels made a very noticeable difference in my experience. I also plan on removing the rear seats and switching to a smaller battery after getting the life out of the current, then when the original exhaust is rusty go for a lighter one...

    RADIATOR MOUNT SUBFRAME

    Road Tyres - F1 As 5 vs Michelin PS4

I'm sticking with PS4s for now. I ran GY Eagle F1s for a couple of years and found they wore quicker, despite doing more mileage on the PS4s. I didn't notice any difference in grip but haven't ever been on track, so can't say I've often explored the limits of both tyres.

    Subframe issues

I see in your other thread that you used ebay/eurocarpart lower arms, have you tried a genuine Renault lower arm? I work in the trade and aftermarket lower arms are almost always a false economy even on standard cars, let alone a RS.

    The Definitive What Wheels Thread...

Thanks for the info. I've had a look at different wheels and it's down to either Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2's or Ultraleggeras. I'd really like to find the Ultras in crystal titanium but seems the highest offset they're available in that'll fit is et40.

    The Definitive What Wheels Thread...

Thanks Peter, I was looking for the original 7.5" size but as the cup racers and a lot of others use 8" I see no harm. I've only seen a few posts saying lighter wheels make a big difference, is there any improvement in power, ride quality or handling?

    Aftermarket Head Unit Fitting

If you remove the glovebox it makes it a lot easier, it's just a few torx bolts behind the dash trim, on the left hand side behind another piece of trim and inside the glovebox.

Have you removed the glovebox to help feed the wires through?
