Fifth Gear: RS 200 Tuning

Did anyone see the new series of Fifth Gear last night?

They had an RS 200 where they tried to see what provided the best performance increase around Rockingham.

Control Lap Time: 1:43.6
Superchips Blufin (£250): 1:37.6
Milltek Exhaust (£530): 1.37.5
Yoko AD08 Tyres (£130 ea): 1.35.0
Driver Instruction (only three laps): 1.30.9
 
I saw it, it was very flawed though. They needed to use a pro driver really, not a gadget show TV presenter (apart from the tuition bit wouldn't have worked then though?)
 
just watched it and she is simply getting more used to driving around the track inturn getting faster,poor reflection on the mods named in my eyes

its on sky anytime if people want to see it

Exactly, incredibly flawed.

With a pro driver, I'd expect the combination of exhaust and remap to be worth 2-3/10ths at best.

Yeah, I believe it would have been alot better with Plato driving it.

Didn't really see the need for suzie to be there, other than the fact she is rather attractive!
 
Yep I saw it.

The way it came over to me was don't waste cash on mods unless you can first drive properly and also have decent tyres.

Nice to see they used a decent hot hatch tho!
 
Blah, i wasnt really interested in what the mods were. I was just like 'my cars younger brother is on tv!!' :smiley:
 
Just seen it.

I didn't think it was that bad. Obviously a flawed test, but did bring up some good points in that driver training and things like tyres will heals much higher gains than an exhaust. Which most people go for first, as they think noise = speed.

So although not 100% scientific, it did get the point across of learning/tuning in the correct order is important.

Plus nice to see a 200 being given a thrash!
