BTW my Stealership Gordan Lamb quoted a bargain 10% off their £1220 price to get it to £1100 for the timing belt. They also waffled on for about 5 minutes that its about 'The BIGGEST job' you could possibly ever have to do to your car.

Hi mates, My clio has reached its 5 year service. I'm getting the timing belt done but the garage said they would price up a water pump because people usually have it done at the same time. Is this worth it, has anyone had it done and what reasonable price should I expect? Thanks

If you read up you'll see I did my own free alternator test. :/

All in for their diagnostic, parts, labour n vat it was £250. A new altenator (the higher volt for ac one) was £240 including vat from 2 not renault places. Something I noticed was the fault happened within 2 miles of 64000 on the clock. I wondered if anyone else will have this fault...

The alternator had died. I had it repaired because it cost a lot less than a new one. Oh well :/

Hi, I'm from chesterfield. I'm gonna get the alternator checked for output. It looks hard to get at, the induction stuff looks like it needs taking out first. I searched for an altenator on the net, £100 I think. UHOH !
