2006 Deep Black Track Shed BudgetBoltOnBuild

Yeah they weren't looking too sharp after Snetterton but they still had a little bit of tread left so they were getting used. If you ever get the chance to go, do it, it's up there already as a favourite track, it's fast and technical with several bits that need some serious commitment. 10/10...

2006 Deep Black Track Shed BudgetBoltOnBuild

Knockhill. Let me open by saying this... What. A. Track! If you ever get the chance to go up there, do it. Honestly it's one of the funnest circuits I've had the pleasure of driving and I'm sad that it's 8 hours each way to get there! Prep was slow in the run up to heading up to Knockhill, as...

2006 Deep Black Track Shed BudgetBoltOnBuild

Car survived a day of abuse at Snetterton on Tuesday. 2 different drivers, 70+ litres of fuel, a litre of oil, a set of tyres and brake pads and around 200 miles on track. What a machine! First 3 pics are being driven by my mate Rich, who has only really driven his Corvette on track and this...

197 Cup cranks but won't start

197 Cup cranks but won't start

I can't say for sure on a 197/200 but the 172/182 has an inertia switch that cuts power to the fuel pump in the event of an accident. @EthanMenace or @burrellbloke may have some experience with this with their original shell?

    Why a clio?

Today was a good example of why I love the Clio. Trackday at Snetterton, I beat the absolute snot out of the car, my mate drove it like he stole it, I took passengers out and battered the hell out of it. Didn't miss a beat all day long. Tyres are dead, front pads are dead, there's about half a...

2006 Deep Black Track Shed BudgetBoltOnBuild

Did some work on the old girl today. Trackday booked for Tuesday so the smart play was to spend some time and get it ready a few weeks in advance. The exact thing I didn't do. The plan was discs and pads all round, service, free up the coilovers and a general check over, I was going to lift my...

    Why a clio?

For me it was the first proper hot hatch I'd owned, I've always loved the revvy NA engine, short ratio 'box and the nimble handling. So much so that up until I bought mine I'd always changed cars every 6-12 months. The 197 I've now owned since 2016 and I can't see myself getting rid of it. Like...

    Engines 197/200

There'll also be a few sensors you'll need to swap over. I put a 200 engine into my 197 and I had to move several sensors across as the plugs were different. Can't tell you which ones for certain but there are a few.

I'll bring mine round after it dies around Knockhill then!

    Glacier White 200 Cup

Big toe little toe is the way I do it too. My mates Exocet has some form of autoblip on it and it's very odd to use.

    Glacier White 200 Cup

I hate to say it but I think running that treacle-like gearbox oil may have been a bad move. Even when I had air in my clutch system and the bite point was on the floor, the car never struggled to go into gear. Interesting to see the difference in lap times and I'm glad I'm not the only one...

    197: Vacuum leak - Help

There's very few vacuum lines on these. Only thing I'd be looking at is if the inlet manifold has been off and the gasket needs replacing. Last time mine had a rough idle it was a lambda sensor, the voltages were within spec apparently but it was picked up by Andy at ED when he mapped it. I...
