    Why a clio?

Today was a good example of why I love the Clio. Trackday at Snetterton, I beat the absolute snot out of the car, my mate drove it like he stole it, I took passengers out and battered the hell out of it. Didn't miss a beat all day long. Tyres are dead, front pads are dead, there's about half a...

2006 Deep Black Track Shed BudgetBoltOnBuild

Did some work on the old girl today. Trackday booked for Tuesday so the smart play was to spend some time and get it ready a few weeks in advance. The exact thing I didn't do. The plan was discs and pads all round, service, free up the coilovers and a general check over, I was going to lift my...

    Why a clio?

For me it was the first proper hot hatch I'd owned, I've always loved the revvy NA engine, short ratio 'box and the nimble handling. So much so that up until I bought mine I'd always changed cars every 6-12 months. The 197 I've now owned since 2016 and I can't see myself getting rid of it. Like...

    Engines 197/200

There'll also be a few sensors you'll need to swap over. I put a 200 engine into my 197 and I had to move several sensors across as the plugs were different. Can't tell you which ones for certain but there are a few.

Big toe little toe is the way I do it too. My mates Exocet has some form of autoblip on it and it's very odd to use.

I hate to say it but I think running that treacle-like gearbox oil may have been a bad move. Even when I had air in my clutch system and the bite point was on the floor, the car never struggled to go into gear. Interesting to see the difference in lap times and I'm glad I'm not the only one...

    197: Vacuum leak - Help

There's very few vacuum lines on these. Only thing I'd be looking at is if the inlet manifold has been off and the gasket needs replacing. Last time mine had a rough idle it was a lambda sensor, the voltages were within spec apparently but it was picked up by Andy at ED when he mapped it. I...

2006 Deep Black Track Shed BudgetBoltOnBuild

Booked on for an evening session at Snetterton on the 14th so it was time to knock all the bird poo and dust off the old girl Comes up alright, still no show pony though! In other news I changed the wheels on the X5 and generally tidied it up, it's had some... "tasteful" mods in the past so...

2006 Deep Black Track Shed BudgetBoltOnBuild

No real updates to the car in all honesty. It hasn't been touched since Oulton, fired it up and drove it onto the trailer to go around Blyton for the day. Mucky pup. The widebody Clio in the background has a built K20 with a big turbo on it, sadly he was having boost issues. It was a Javelin...

Godspeed don't need any more excuses to crack, I'd follow their guidelines with a set of decent used pads. Almost worth keeping a set of standard Brembo pads for bedding discs in maybe?

    Glacier White 200 Cup

Who's the TDO on that one? I like Blyton, it's a fun little track that you can just lap and lap and lap all day long.
