Morning rcwsr, mine is quite distinctive from in the car and recently threw up an EML. 2000 revs seems to be where it's noticeable - is this the same for you? I'll check out my flexi's and manifold welds to see if I can spot anything.

Day 5: Collected the Clio, ready to begin enjoying the car and I was presented with a little treat on the dashboard. Not off to a great start!

Well, today things have escalated. Car started with an EML 'Check Emissions', killed the ignition and started her up again, it bogged and struggled but kicked back in to life. I presume the EML is in correlation to the ticking noise I reported a few days ago. I'm thinking... Manifold *sigh*.

Only one way to find out, I guess!?

Thanks for the info! Resonated is probably the way to go - do you have an aftermarket manifold too?

If you're able to check under the car anytime soon, the non resonated doesn't have a silencer in the centre pipe. If you check Scorpions website and compare the two system, it's easy to spot. Out of curiosity, are you running the decat too? I'm looking to go down the route of resonated...

Good call! I need to ascertain if it's most definitely the manifold and if so... what my plan of action is. I'll likely go aftermarket or custom built but can't imagine it being to cheap - I have intentions of a catback exhaust so probably best to do it all together. My sentiments exactly...

Thanks for the input Beany. I think decat is the way to go as I'm guessed it adds the extra pops and noise. The big question is.. resonated or non-res. What are you running?

First and foremost, welcome fellow petrol heads, car enthusiasts and lurkers to my Project/Progress Thread. I am the proud owner of a Clio RS200 CUP MK3 (2009) in Racing Blue; purchased in February 2019 with approximately 79,000 miles. As of writing this post, I've owned the car for 4 days...

Sounds exactly as you've described and irritating indeed! I'll check over the exhaust system and see if I can at least pin point if it's definitely the point of failure. I'll go from there, I planned to get a new exhaust in the near future anyway.
