Big Bens non Clio

I'd consider running an engine cover with those Ben. If it does rain may stop water getting into the plug holes. That's what I thought about doing.
I’ve given it some thought and decided to carry some plastic sheet and tape as an emergency measure for now. Engine cover is a decent idea regarding plugs. I’ll have a proper look at weekend cheers

Car was booked in to AWMotorworks for a service and for more work to help with temps on track. Bigger oil cooler with some shrouding plates to direct air straight through radiator should help. Things then escalated…

Was tagged on a Ktec Garrett GTX2867R turbo kit that had only seen 100 miles and ended up agreeing a very good price so that was that.
Been fitted up this week and mapped. Initial run was 399/370. Engine Dynamics are pretty conservative and prefer reliability over outright numbers so we dropped it down a notch to 377/348 @1.4bar. Clutch is safe at that torque so makes sense.
Ive still yet to drive her but I’ve been told “she’s quick!”
Hopefully find some fuel this weekend and go for a hoon Sunday. Will report back

Shake down update:

Negatives
It’s Dangerously fast

Positives
It’s dangerously fast! Obviously having seen the dyno results I knew the car was quicker but it’s the way it’s delivered and how much there is which was an eye opener.
Low down it’s very nice to drive. Less torque than previously as that peaks slightly higher in the power band now but no negative effect. Actually helps with pulling away in 1st and 2nd.

After about 4000rpm the difference in the Garrett comes to the fore. Man it just keeps pulling and pulling. Lovely linear line to the increased 7200 redline. Batshit fast and really needs a track now to be able to explore its full potential.
Traction was good tbf. Need to be sensible in low gears but that’s no surprise.

I’ve changed the gearbox oil to redline mtl and that feels an improvement over standard stuff. Feels thicker and better damped. Might be placebo though.

Oil and coolant temps were way down on previous levels. I’ve got a Sunday morning route I stick to so it’s ok to compare. Everything seems to be working great. (New Mocal 16 row oil cooler) Actual concern now might be overcooling of the oil in winter as after running out of speedo(mates airfield) oil temp only nudged 75°. Repeated hammering on trackday needed to confirm what I hope is the last of my cooling issues.

Edit* forgot to mention how much better it sounds. Upfront enormous intake whoosh and chattering blower. Exhaust is louder and badder. Pops bangs crackles. Totally natural sounding as well. None of that fake VAG crap
