How easy is it to change a fuel pump?

I recently had intermittent issues with my fuel pump where the fuel gauge would randomly jump to empty and then once restarted would jump back up but always to a different level so I never know how much is in there.

Anyone know what is involved in doing this or if it could be something else that causes this?

Trying to debate which option is worse in that case
Most people opt for cutting the floor. Rentune make premade plates for covering the extended hole.
There’s also a guide in the “how to” section if you’re a paid member.

Find out what the problem is does the pump stop working or is it just the fuel level cutting a hole in the floor might be OK for a track car but not a road one. the level gauge works on resistance so corrosion can effect this and if the car is not on the level it will read different. Fuel pumps get there power from the Power switching unit if its going wrong with water damage swap with a used one or borrowed one and see if the problem is the same a Renault clip can read the level direct then you can see what's wrong. Fill the car and zero the trip the car should do 280 - 320 miles then fill it again and keep a fuel jar in the boot if your worried about running out. Take the opportunity to remove, empty and clean the tank out.

It’s just the fuel gauge, no issues with the pump itself, it’s not a track car as such but the rear seats have been removed. Happens every now and again but always has a different range on it’s once I reset the car. Will get it on clip before I start spending money on parts I don’t need and check the wiring for any corrosion.
thanks for your input
